This is what's wrong with this country. A gun culture funded by the NRA, politicians bought by the NRA, and gun manufacturers with phallic envy. Until the nation realizes the culture of guns is killing our country, the killings will continue.

The first two ads are from the gun company responsible for the murder of 20 innocent children:

AND FINALLY....

The number of households owning guns has declined from almost 50% in 1973 to just over 32% in 2010, according to a 2011 study produced by The University of Chicago's National Opinion Research Center.

The number of gun owners has gone down almost 10% over the same period, the report found.

The concentration comes, in part, because guns are "marketed by and large to people who already own guns...

LOL, this piece of marketing speaks volumes:

Thanks, Howey, for posting it.

This piece of information speaks volumes.

Let's discuss why so little progress is being made on this front.

It's a good question. Think of people like Stargazer who don't believe some conditions are real mental illnesses, such as bipolar disorder. Even though the research shows more and more how brain chemicals affect the mind-body link, some people will always shrug it off.

People still live fifty years ago, when those with mental illnesses were shunned, rather than helped. They were trucked off to asylums to waste away. Today, mental health care is only available to the well off...funding for treatment and services has been slashed over the years by the Bush administration and Congress.

We sent crazy people to fight the war in Iraq rather than give them treatment they deserve.

We refused treatment to soldiers returning from Iraq suffering from PTSD and other conditions during the Bush administration. Suicide rates in the military and former military are sky high.

Obama has tried to do all he can, despite the obstruction of congress and states.

I agree, 100%.

What has Obama been trying to do? (not a rhetorical question, I do not know the answer)

And funding for mental health services only started getting slashed in 2001? People in California blame Ronald Reagan for taking mentally ill out of hospitals/wards back in the '60's. Did funding then increase from the '70's - 90's before getting slashed by Bush?

the gun company responsible for the murder of 20 innocent children.....???

Odd,
its not the person that buys the gun
its not the person that owns the gun
its not the person that uses the gun

its the company that made the gun.

the logic, actually the lack of logic, is incomprehensible and absurd....

Carry that logic to other issues where death happens....

its not the bank robbers fault, its the banks for existing
its not the dui drivers fault, its the car manufacturer
its not the sky drivers fault, its the airplane maker
to carry the absurdity to its logical conclusion,
its not the rapist killers fault, its the womens

the absurdity of the logic is plain.

Blabo has a point.

Guns and bullets are products.

Do product liability issues apply if they are used to kill?
