After Ariel Sharon's severe stroke:"Ladies and Gentlemen I said last year that Israel was entering into the most dangerous periods of its entire existence as a nation. That is intensifying this year with the loss of Sharon. Sharon was personally a very likeable person and I am sad to see him in this condition, but I think we need to look at the Bible and the Book of Joel. The prophet Joel makes it very clear that God has enmity against those who 'divide my land.' God considers this land to be His. You read the Bible and He says 'this is my land' and for any Prime Minister of Israel who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, God says 'no, this is mine.' I had a wonderful meeting with Yitzhak Rabin in 1974. He was tragically assassinated, it was a terrible thing that happened but nevertheless he was dead. And now Ariel Sharon who again was a very likeable person, a delightful person to be with, I prayed with him personally, but here he's at the point of death. He was dividing God's land and I would say woe unto any Prime Minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the EU, the United Nations, or the United States of America. God says 'this land belongs to me. You'd better leave it alone.'"-2006

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." - 1992 Iowa fundraising letter opposing a state equal-rights amendment ("Equal Rights Initiative in Iowa Attacked", Washington Post, 23 August 1992);

"I'd like to say to the citizens of Dover, if there is a disaster in your area don't turn to god; you just rejected him from your city" (referring to the town of Dover, Pennsylvania school board election of 11/2005 when eight anti-Intelligent design candidates were elected to all eight available seats, this following the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District court case

"If I could just get a nuclear device inside Foggy Bottom, I think that's the answer." (talking about the United States State Department)

"Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history." (Interview with Molly Ivins)

"The Antichrist is probably a Jew alive in Israel today."
As quoted in "The Christian Paradox", Harper's Magazine (August 2005)

"We have allowed rampant secularism and occult, et cetera, to be broadcast on television. We have permitted somewhere in the neighborhood of 35 to 40 million unborn babies to be slaughtered in our society. We have a Court that has essentially stuck its finger in God's eye and said, 'We're going to legislate you out of the schools, we're going to take your Commandments from off the courthouse steps in various states, we're not going to let little children read the Commandments of God, we're not going to let the Bible be read -- no prayer in our schools.' We have insulted God at the highest levels of our government. And, then we say 'why does this happen?' Well, why its happening is that God Almighty is lifting His protection from us." (in response to the 9/11 attacks)

THIS IS WHY MCCAIN NO LONGER CLAIMS TO BE EPISCOPALIAN

"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense, I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist." -- Pat Robertson, The 700 Club, January 14, 1991

Pat Robertson is a friggin moron. We have seen the effects he and those like him have had on Bush. Which is one of the reasons people wanted to know what Obama's stance was on Wrights comments. Obama answered that quite clearly yesterday. (my opinion)

That said, I seem to recall Pat Robertson getting blasted by everyone outside the RR for his comments. I guess those that did simply feared the angry white man.

He's white, and he's a mainstream and widely admired evangelical. Hardly anyone in the media blinks an eye at his crazy shit.

Can't we get back to talking about how Barack Hussien Obama is a radical muslim? Or, has this new frenzy with his inner city christian church kind of ruined the fun on that?

I love that aspect of it. All in all, this has actually been kind of a winner for Obama, on balance:

1) Lost false outrage racist Republicans/Fox viewers who wouldn't have voted for him anyway - marginal loss
2) Made speech of a lifetime, that more than a few hailed as the best speech they have heard in decades on race or anything - win
3) Squashed persistent rumors that he is a Muslim, but again, mainly with those mentioned in #1 - marginal win

Speaking as a ferriner, the influence religion has on American political life is amazing. It's also disgusting.

Some of us here feel the same way. But it is a mistake to go public with that in my area. Many of hose darned Christians are vengeful to the non believers.
they would organize a boycott against my business and hurt my christian employees.
Stupit people.
