Polls suck

There is very little credibility to any of the college football polls and the should be completely eliminated from determining who will make the play off. In a 4 game play off you should have to win your conference to EARN the honor of being chosen for the playoff. You can't have a true national championship by proxy as the BCS has taught us. So no non-conference champs. Same with an 8 game tournament. Only conference champs should be chosen. A team has to earn it. No team is better than another team based on any opinion.

So to that effect polls have been used to front load SEC teams in the BCS bowls as a self fulfilling prophecy. Since the end of year polls impact preseason polls and sets up the scam this years final poll is a great example of why the polls have to go. Here is the Final Poll

1. Florida State, 14-0 (1) [11]
2. Auburn, 12-2 (2) [NR]
3. Michigan State, 13-1 (4) [NR]
4. South Carolina, 11-2 (8) [6]
5. Missouri, 12-2 (9) [NR]
6. Oklahoma, 11-2 (11) [16]
7. Alabama, 11-2 (3) [1]
8. Clemson, 11-2 (12) [8]
9. Oregon, 11-2 (10) [3]
10. Central Florida, 12-1 (15)
11. Stanford, 11-3 (5) [4]
12. Ohio State, 12-2 (7)

Now if the polls were valid there's no way you'd see it top loaded with 4 SEC teams like this. If you based the polls on objective criteria such as, best record, wining conference, winning division, winning BCS bowl game, winning major bowl game then the year end poll would be like this. Bias goes in favor of best record, winning final game of season and winning BCS game over major bowl game and conference champ over division champ over non-conf champ.

#1. Florida State 14-0 (best records in nation, Division Champ, Conference Champ, won BCS Bowl)
#2. Michigan State 13-1 (second best record in nation. Division Champ, Conference Champ, won BCS Bowl)
#3. Cent. Florida 12-1 (tied for 3rd best record. Conference Champ. Won BCS Bowl.)
#4. Louisville 12 -1 (tied for 3rd best record. Won major bowl game)
#5. Mizzou 12-2 (tied for 5th best record. Won Division. Won major bowl game).
#6. Auburn 12-2 (tied for 5th best record. Won conference. Lost BCS Bowl game).
#7. Oklahoma 11-2 (tied for 8th best record. Conference runner up. Won BCS Bowl game).
#8. Clemson 11-2 (tied for 8th best record. Won BCS Bowl game).
#9. Oregon 11-2 (tied for 8th best record. Won major bowl game).
#10. South Carolina 11-2 (tied for 8th best record. Won major bowl game).
#11. Ohio State 12-2 (Tied for 5th best record. division champ. Lost BCS Bowl game).
#12. Baylor 11-2 (tied for 8th best record. Won conference. Lost BCS Bowl game)

Done objectively you see the reality of parity in college football. That breaks down to the following teams by conference in the top 10.

ACC - 2
SEC -3
American - 2
Big 10 - 2
Pac 12 - 1
Big 12 - 2
