Rekindling An Old Love Affair

President Reagan and then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher got together and put an end to the Soviet Union. I like to think rekindling the love affair between the UK and the U.S. will put an end to the EU.

Trump, UK's Boris Johnson to meet on sidelines of G-7 summit

Way back when in 1993 when the Maastricht Treaty legitimated the European Union I was convinced the EU would implode in 10 years. I missed the mark by 16 years. Happily, the end is near.

One reminder of a dark chapter in the EU’s sordid love affair with the New World Order crowd. It was much like Hitler’s armies sweeping across Europe when President Clinton’s bunghole buddy, Tony Blair, had a good chance of becoming the president of the European Union.

Blair never got the job. At the time I felt more sorry for Bubba than I did for Blair. What is a global government guy supposed to do when fate refuses to cooperate?

Brexit is taking shape:

U.S. President Donald Trump and Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson have predicted “fantastic mini-deals” and “a very big trade deal” after Brexit at a G7 meeting, with the American saying he believes the Tory MP is “the right man” to deliver it.

“He needs no advice. He’s the right man for the job, I’ve been saying that for a long time,” the American leader told reporters when asked if he had any advice for his British counterpart at a meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.

“Didn’t make your predecessor very happy,” he added in reference to Theresa May, looking across the table to Johnson with a grin, “but I’ve been saying that for a long time. He’s the right man for the job.”

“You’re on message there!” joked the British prime minister, winning a laugh from the American delegation.

Brexit is taking shape:

Agent 006 & 7/8[SUP]ths[/SUP] reports that Queen Elizabeth gave BOJO a big shovel with instructions to dig Brexit’s grave:

Queen Elizabeth has approved Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s request to suspend Parliament from early September to October 14 — just before the Brexit deadline.

In taking the controversial step of advising the Queen to call a halt to Parliament, Johnson has shortened the amount of time lawmakers have to oppose his no-deal Brexit plans to leave the European Union.

Halting Parliament is known as “proroguing.” It is a power that rests with the Queen, and is carried out on the advice of the prime minister, the BBC explains. But, in doing so, it reduces the influence of Members of Parliament (MPs).

Johnson proposed that Parliament be suspended from early September until October 14, when it would return to hear the Queen’s speech of new legislation and signal a new Parliamentary sitting. Johnson wrote that he wanted the Queen’s speech “to bring forward a new bold and ambitious domestic legislative agenda for the renewal of our country after Brexit.”

The suspension now only gives MPs opposed to Johnson a couple of weeks before the U.K. is set to leave the EU. (Furthermore, MPs will have only just returned from their summer break on September 3.)

At the moment, the U.K. will leave the EU without a deal. Some of those in favor of leaving want to do so only with a deal, while others hoping to remain in the EU see any delay as a chance to avoid pulling out altogether. Johnson was elected as leader of the Conservative Party and therefore became prime minister on the grounds of leaving on the October 31 date, whatever the outcome of any new talks.

A Privy Council meeting confirming the move is said to have taken place at Balmoral, where the Queen is based during her summer and early autumn break.

As near as I understand the UK’s parliament Brexit’s demise is at hand:

It all goes to underline that the British public is with Johnson, they love what he is doing to put the squeeze to the European Union, they know that President Trump has Boris Johnson's back, and they wants to 'get on with it' with Brexit. The Tories are now soaring in the polls and should beat handily any leftist seeking to overturn the results of the Brexit referendum.

Hey, lefties! Are you ready for, say, U.K. Lord High Chancellor Nigel Farage?
By Monica Showalter

I am betting on BOJO because he does not have UK judges torpedoing him the way our activist federal judges sink President Trump’s policies at every opportunity.

The UK is deeply divided over Brexit.

Do you read the news? Parliament gave Boris a very hard time.

But the real reason I am replying is that Nigel is in Putin's pocket, same one Trump is in.

Most important, he supports Boris Johnson’s cardinal policy and the defining issue of the Conservative Party’s campaign: Britain’s withdrawal from the EU.

I am pretty sure UK voters do not want to rekindle a love affair with an old hag:

Hillary Clinton is back, and so is Chris Steele, this time in the United Kingdom. They are no less than implying that current Conservative (Tory) Prime Minister Boris Johnson is a Russian plant. And it’s no mistake that these allegations are being made just before a U.K. general election on December 12 that will decide the fate of Brexit.

Britain is also in increasing lockstep with the United States on issues such as China's technological interference, declaring its intention to ban Huawei from future 5G network development.

The love affair appears to be in lockstep:

I understand Great Britain’s loyalty to its former Crown Colony, but I would not take in anybody from Hong Kong until they prove beyond a doubt they are not advocating democracy:

Meanwhile, some American policymakers are actively considering similar measures for Hong Kong's political refugees.

I can only pray that lockstep includes Great Britain’s military assistance when China invades Taiwan:

NOTE: Great Britain taking in Hong Kongers is domestic policy. Defending Taiwan is U.S. foreign policy. More so when defending Taiwan means paying a debt:

Chicoms have every reason to love Americans, while the Chinese people have every reason to hate Americans. In simple terms, it was FDR’s China hands that gave the Chinese people to the Communists in 1949. Add that blunder on top of Americans cashing in on European imperialism in China:

Thanks for another fine post, Flanders.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Great Britain interfering. They're going to hurt themselves. Look how big Russia is.
as much as you want to believe so. It can't all possibly be governed.

Taiwan’s population is approximately 24 million. What is your point?

I LOVED Gilligan's Island when I was a kid.;)

To Steve VanderMolen: LOL.

My memory of two islands owned by Communist China are slightly different:

I made a few bucks from Quemoy & Matsu:

https://www.afhistory.org/wp-content/uploads/quemoy-and-matsu.jpg

The Chicoms used to fire at Formosa every other day. A few of the break/bulk freighters I sailed delivered materials to Formosa. My pay doubled on those days the ship was inside the “war zone”.

https://www.justplainpolitics.com/showthread.php?132627-Trump-The-President-that-lost-Iraq

Incidentally, I often say Formosa instead of Taiwan. I do it because over the years I noticed that it annoyed liberals. I frequently say Peking instead of Bejing because it annoys China ass-kissers on the Left.

And to me, Myanmar will always be Burma; Sri Lanka will always be Ceylon. There are more countries whose names changed since my youth, but I still think of the names they used before I swallowed the anchor.

p.s. The Chicago sewer rat selling out Taiwan for eight years was to be expected because it advanced the U.N.’s global objectives without all of the backlash the American Communist betrayal in Vietnam triggered. Few Americans today can locate Taiwan on a map let alone understand its significance.

The American Civil War was a civil war in the United States from 1861 to 1865,
fought between northern states loyal to the Union and southern states that had
seceded from the Union to form the Confederate States of America.
