Ron Paul gets shafted by republicans LOL

The only place where Paul got a less than friendly reception this past weekend in Iowa was the Iowa Republican Party’s Reagan Dinner Saturday night.

The members of the GOP establishment sat on their hands through most of Paul’s address. Not until he’d spoken for nine minutes did he get any applause, a tepid round of clapping when he called for abolishing the income tax.

Meanwhile, Paul is drawing a mixture of curiosity and respect from Democrats.

I think I saw that on Cspan. The republican audience gave him a very cold reception. I don't think they like what he has to say on iraq, on their iran war dreams, or on their foreign policy.

What does he expect from republicans but the shaft? He's running for the REPUBLICAN nomination and his views are not in line with REPUBLICAN thinking. If he wants to espouse libertarian thought, which it really isn't, then he should run for the LIBERTARIAN nomination, where he's get the shaft from a lot of libertarians.

He may get some curiosity from some democrats, but his ass would be booed off stage if he were running for the democratic nomination.

The man just doesn't really fit anywhere.

Good and true observation, Libertarians may not get the warmest reception from Republicans, but at least they aren't treated with outright hostility and intolerance from the Democrat Party.

dano weren't you just saying that when a libertarian runs as a republican they win, but when they run as a libertarian they lose?

LOL

Yes and that is why I say they MAY not get the warmest reception, not that they will. Ron Paul ran unopposed in the last election, clearly the man is popular.
If Libertarians position themselves as being moderate with focusing their stances on the war and abortion, they could steamroll a lot of districts running as Republicans.
Paul shows that, at least in his own riding.

One of the biggest problems in "The Libertarian Party" is that they have moves so far towards "Anarcho-Capitalism", that they fail to see that they have a bigger opportunity throwing their lot in with CIVIL LIBERTARIANS.

Think. The Right has moved far more toward restricting civil rights, than The Left has moved toward restricting capitalism.

Show me someone in government who is pushing for a ridiculous level of socialism. I bet I can show more who push for a ridiculous level of fundamentalism.
