Senate 56-44

Wait, I shouldn't have called Oregon. Results are still pouring in.

But right now the senate is looking like 56-44. 55-45 after Lieberman caucuses Republican.

Franken is trying to get a recount in Minnesota, which could possibly show him ahead. Maybe they haven't counted some Democratic stronghold yet in Oregon? It's possible we could be looking at 57-43, or 58-42 by the time the dust has settled. That's optimistic, though.

Once you have a majority, it pretty much doesnt matter when you also have the House and Presidency. I'm just glad it's not veto proof.

I honestly just hope they get rid of the filibuster. They should at least make it as difficult as it used to be.

But the Republicans are going to have a difficult time mustering all the votes necessary to filibuster with ever vote.

They'll easily hold up important legislation that is popular because they don't want Democrats to get credit for fixing anything.

Healthcare for instance...

I'm just glad that joker Franken is getting shut down. He was not qualified to be a Senator.

This is working out pretty well, if the Democrats don't gain any more Senate seats I will be very happy with this result.

I was wrong.

All four races are still in the air, but leaning Republican. We could still get 60 - thank God.

And Norm Coleman is qualified to be a senator because of his affiliation with a terrorist organization known as "The Republican Party".

Hopefully Lieberman will switch Repub, and the other 4 races will stay Republican. The Senate is pretty much the only institutional check on socialism since the SCOTUS had their nuts removed.

In further analysis, I think the race in Alaska is going to go to the Democrat. They are counting the absentee ballots right now, which are almost certainly going to lean Democratic.

The race in Oregon is pretty much still a tossup. They use vote by mail and we won't know until the count gets done in a few days.

The recount in Minnesota is unlikely to show Franken ahead.

The runoff in Georgia is almost certain to elect Chambliss.

I do hope you are right. Begich would make a great Senator in the new government!
