Nearly all politicians employ teleprompters, but most use them delivering some sense of sincerity in their delivery, with Trump it is almost robotic with the only sense of genuineness coming when he goes off on his own, and that is when the writers hold their breath

MAGAts are infamous for never taking responsibility. Blaming any factual errors on the speechwriters and not the person who gave the speech is an example of this behavior.

Additionally, it's not just reading off the teleprompter* but the delivery as you pointed out.
I doubt Trump screaming "These people are crazy" was on the teleprompter. His pausing for 30+ seconds at a time, turning to and fro, to bask in the applause, was all Trump, not the speech writers. Turning the SOTU into an awards show worthy of the Oscars was mostly Trump with the speechwriters doing the research on the recipients. Trump sticking to the script was mostly due to threats from his staff and his "almost robotic" stiffness told the tale.
