That particular speech is one of my two biggest complaints with Obama.

The other thing relates to an interview he gave recently.

He was asked if he knew that when capital gains taxes were lower, tax revenues showed a marked increase. And when capital gains taxes were raise, there was a marked decrease in tax revenues. Obama said he did know this. Then he went on to outline his plans for raising the capital gains tax. This means he is not interested in taxation for the purpose of funding the government, but as a means of punishing the successful for their success.
