Once upon a time there were two stables in a small town in the West. One day a cowboy and a tenderfoot walked into the first stable looking to buy a horse. As it turned out there was only one horse for sale. The cowboy took one look at the broken-down worn-out old nag, turned and headed for the other stable. The tenderfoot figured he was the only bidder so he continued to examine the old nag.

The stable hand knew a sap when he saw one so he immediately pointed out the finer points of the noble steed —— that was only being fed enough oats to keep her alive long enough to get her to the glue factory.

Naturally, the tenderfoot bought the nag after a great deal of haggling. Of course, he had to buy a saddle, too.
