1. A bunch of assholes get together and form a libertarian party because they fail so hard.
2. A Republican elector gives a vote to the libertarian candidate, thus betraying his pledge.
3. Ed Clark runs as a "low-tax liberal". He gets more votes than any other libertarian ever. Libertarians get pissed off and kick out all the moderates, thus leaving only hardcore people.
4. They go on to lose every federal election they ever competed in.
