No, it is jam packed with opinion. It is an opinion piece. Conason cherry picks his subjects within the book and in some cases, like with discussing McCarthy repeats now thoroughly discredited claims from the Left about him and his anti-Communist activities in Congress. Conason picks his subjects carefully to paint the picture he wants. There's no objectivity to the book whatsoever. Conason has a conclusion then sets out to prove it.
