The partition plan was accepted by the Jewish leadership but rejected by Palestinian Arab leaders and Arab states. In May 1948, Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Iraq invaded. The Palestinians - or at least their activists - wanted it all. Seventy-five years later they still do. What should Israel do?
P.S. Stalin initially supported the Jewish state because it was so far left in its early days that he thought it would be a communist fellow-traveler. Now it’s run by Netanyahu. Progress or what?
