The Real Sarah Palin

It has to be obvious that the republican tools would praise Alfred E. Neumann if he were selected for VP. Ideology has nothing to do with thought or analysis, it is about belief and its blinders focus in such a way that the real Palin is hardly noticed. The piece below sums up her experience and job skills or lack thereof. What a poor choice, but McCain didn't graduate at the very bottom of his class because he was smart. Another dummy put forth by the republicans, you'd think they had learned.

And for my supply side economists who I have debated with before, did you notice anything unusual lately. ROTFLMAO

A suburban Anchorage homemaker and activist — who once did battle with the Alaska governor when Palin was mayor — recounts what she knows of Palin's history. By Anne Kilkenny

"During her mayoral administration, most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings, which had given rise to a recall campaign.

Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a "fiscal conservative." During her six years as mayor, she increased general government expenditures by more than 33 percent. During those same six years, the amount of taxes collected by the city increased by 38 percent. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax, which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents.

The huge increases in tax revenue during her mayoral administration weren't enough to fund everything on her wish list, though — borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt but left it with indebtedness of more than $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? Or a new library? No. $1 million for a park. $15 million-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex, which she rushed through, on a piece of property that the city didn't even have clear title to. That was still in litigation seven years later — to the delight of the lawyers involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5 million for road projects that could have been done in five to seven years without any borrowing.

While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office redecorated more than once.

These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city."

Hey now don't confuse the Palinites with that probably truthful crap. They need their nirvana after voting for Bush a couple of times.

Factcheck.org is going after this e-mail next. Can't wait to see the results.

In Palin's own words there is enough to make one wonder at McBush's sanity. Hey, do you know what a VP does? And creationism is real science? And she is going to heal gays! What fools you guys always pick.

A vote for McCain/Palin is a vote against the fundamental principle of America, the right of the individual to lead their life privately without the government interfering.

Heck we lost that a long time ago. Except for those early ones in the true frontier we have never had that level of freedom.

Midcan, as Cawacko pointed out, the article is a pack of LIES. Of course that won't stop you from posting it over and over again, because like most liberals, you are a lying sack of manure.

What claims in the article are untrue? Put them in context for me and tell me EXACTLY which claims you're disputing.

tools on the left better stick to issues that got you a double digit lead.
The backlash is on and the Palin train is gaining rockstar type status.

I don't know about that. Palin served her purpose. She's energized the reactionary base. McCain has ran his campaign running for the middle and he's done well there. Problem is, it has not been enough to beat Obama. The addition of Palin has brought the hard right back into the fold. Look at the back flips that the wingnut wackos like Dixie, Brent and Little Nut have been doing over her.

On the surface it appears to have been a brilliant move by McCain and it may well win him the election (in which case it was a brilliant move). He would have certainly lost with a pro-choice moderate like Lieberman or Ridge as it would have alienated the hard right.

The underlying risk for McCain is two fold. #1, Palin has been poorly vetted and the McCain camp knows it. She'll be managed to high heaven and kept on short leash. If a skunk in the woodpile turns up on Palin, McCain is seriously screwed. #2. She's a political unknown at this level. As long as she keeps on her short leash and plays her pit bull role, she'll be ok. But at some point in time the McCain camp will have to turn her lose with the serious risk that she will sink his ship.

Say what you want to about McCain but this was a bold political move done purely for political reasons and it's put him back in the game.

The strategy that the Democrats need to take with Palin is to confront her on policy issues such as economics, foreign affairs, national defense and public administration. They need to stay completely away from the culture wars as she will more than hold her own on those issues. Obama and Biden need to be disciplined and stay on message and attack the Republican position on its biggest weak point. Their incompetence at governance.

Debating her will be a bit tricky for Biden as he shouldn't be overly aggressive as it will appear to be mean and petty. However he can't be a nice guy schmuck like Leiberman was with Cheney (Gore should have fired his ass for that if it was possible). If he can maneuver her into a "deer in the headlights" position, like Lloyd Bentsen so skillfully did with Dan Quayle, then he will have done his job.

Thanks I had forgotten that. He looked like he was gonna cry.

I wonder will Palin Cry ? It might work for a woman.

I would imagine you would know what a lie was right. LOL You're so deeply lost in ideological space you wouldn't know reality if it bit you. :p

McCain/Palin are now agents of change, no more pristine coastlines, no more arctic wilderness, no more polar bears, and no more books. Change!
