True, both sides whine about the Court when it isn’t tilted there way, the right hated the Warren Court, ironically, they accused it of practicing judicial activism, which is exactly what today’s conservative Court does

However, two factors make this Court different. For beginners, Mitch playing around with Court traditions plus making confirmation a majority vote insured the SCOTUS would be straight political. You can say Reid set the precedent, but Reid purposely left 60 votes the rule for Supreme Court confirmation

And secondly, the introduction of the Originalism/Textualism influence. No one should ignore the Founders, nor the text of the Constitution, but to authoritatively say you know what men two centuries ago thought or intended is absurd, and results in the sophomoric opinions we’ve seen recently.

Interesting the very Justices who swear if it ain’t in the Constitution they won’t consider it just decided to delay Trump’s immunity claim when there is no mention of Presidential immunity in the Constitution nor Founders writings
