The White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) has decided to cancel comedian Amber Ruffin's planned performance at its annual dinner on April 26, following criticism from President Donald Trump's administration.

Newsweek has reached out to a press contact for Ruffin via email on Saturday for comment.

Why It Matters

WHCA President Eugene Daniels announced the decision on Saturday after White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich raised concerns about comments Ruffin made on a recent podcast that were critical of the Trump administration.

The dinner will now proceed without any comedic performance, marking a significant shift in the event's traditional format.

trump is petty, if nothing else.
Petty, selfish, cowardly, anti-American and unfit for office....to add a few more truisms.

He's also mentally ill, IMO. Very self-deluding and with a tenuous grip on reality. Reportedly, he worked late into the night on his tariff plan. No doubt alone and muttering to himself while his staff was made to sit and watch.

I've never liked Ruffin or Seth Meyers, but if the WH is going to start dictating a press corps event and try to shape it in a way that's flattering and self serving for trump, every other journalist who's not employed by garbage news agencies like Fox, OAN, Breitbart etc, ought to show some guts and boycott the entire affair.

Let the cameras show a "crowd" of about a dozen or so trump bobbleheads sitting there staring at an empty stage and a dais with nobody behind it.

That would drive trump even further over the edge than he already is.

All you need to know about her is that she is a hardcore TDS sufferer.
She also has written for that sicko "Late Night with Seth Meyers" since 2014.
It's pretty easy to see who is the real TDS sufferer here, Knucklehead.

Trump doesn't care.

FWIW, I like both Ruffin and Meyers. Ruffin is great on "Have I got news for you".

Crowd sizes at any event that concerns trump is one of his biggest obsessions.

I don't disagree in principle with most of their positions on issues, it's just that I've always detected an overly smug and self-righteous attitude out of both of them.

Same with Colbert.

I just don't like that quality in anyone, no matter what their politics might be.

Agreed on crowd size, but notice he only goes to "safe" gatherings full of faithful Trump Devotion Syndrome attendees. Notice too that Republicans have been instructed to no longer have town halls since it highlights the angst being felt by many American voters.

Mugging for the camera isn't the same as being smug. Jus' sayin'.

The more petty a president is, the more pathetic he is.
