Reverend Huckabee wants to amend the constitution to bring it in line with biblical law.

Huckabee: Amend Constitution to be in 'God's standards'

The United States Constitution never uses the word "God" or makes mention of any religion, drawing its sole authority from "We the People." However, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks it's time to put an end to that.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

I hope to hell that Reverend Huckabee doesn't want to put Leviticus into the Constitution. It's not cool to execute adulterers, gay people, or burn prostitues alive:

Leviticus 20-21:

If a man commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.

And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

Although, I do think LadyT could be cool with an amendment to put children to death who insult their parents:

Leviticus 20:

"Anyone who curses his father or mother shall be put to death; since he has cursed his father or mother, he has forfeited his life.

Yeah, that's pretty fucking frightening. And Damocles wonders why people get more upset with right-winger invocations of religion as compared to left-wingers. This is why, Damo.

Well Paul would have ahell of a time implementing anything even as Pres.

Not at all, he would be unstoppable. All he has to do is fire people in order to shrink govt. For example, say he proposes that Congress abolish the IRS and the Congress refuses to do so. Then Paul would just fire everyone in the IRS, and de-facto, the department would be abolished.

I would vote for a democrat before I would vote for suckabee... I mean, does THAT tell you anything?

Huckabee is another Religious Rightie who also has the unfortunate luck to also be a mild socialist, so he's #1 on my "Vote Against" List.

I would consider voting for Hillary if Huckabee was the Republican nominee.

That's how deep my hate runs.

I think if Huck were given the opportunity to explain what he meant about God and the Constitution - like Hillary has been given the opportunity to explain what she meant about MLK and LBJ, then there would be little controversy.

Looks pretty clear to me he thinks his religion should be the law.

What does he need to explain. He said it is easier to change the constitution to reflect the word of god rather than trying to change the word of god to fit some modern view of freedom. He is a theocrat. Those that support him are theocrats.

yeah there is a lot of vaguery there.

I would vote for Obama before Huckabee or Ron Paul. With the exception of Thompson, I'm not thrilled with my GOP choices for various reasons, but they all have more coming to the table than Hillary or Barak.

Explain how libertarian policies lead to or create a theocracy.

I'll grab my popcorn.

I believe she specifically refered to ron paul.

Ron supported a resolution for school prayer as I recall, and he thinks creationism is on a par with evolution in science education.

:)

but he's nowhere close to huckster

Naw, Huck's a good guy deep down. You could go worse. Like Romney, the little lying skunk.
