Time for Kime: Remembering a Fallen Hero

Minister of Truth

Practically Perfect
Today, Mardi Gras, marks the 10th Anniversary of Kristopher Kime, a man whom I consider to be a local Seattle hero. On that night, a horrible display occurred at Pioneer Square downtown, in which outright rioting broke out. The police were never given the option to move in an break it up, so they stood on the outskirts, dodging the occasional rock or beer bottle. A pretty young girl got knocked down by some violent scumbags, and Kris moved to protect her, getting struck from behind and killed in the process. It was the sole good deed of the incident.

I have always admired him for what he died for (a pretty girl), and figure if we all have to go sometime, what better way to do it. That said, Mardi Gras of 2001 was a horrible stain on Seattle, and God struck back the following day, Ash Wednesday, with a 6.8 Earthquake.
