Moments after President Joe Biden’s son Hunter was found guilty on three felony charges for lying on a gun-purchase background-check form, President Donald Trump offered to defend the first son’s Second Amendment rights.

“Hunter Biden is a terrible person who has funneled millions of dollars from other countries to his father,” Trump said in a statement. “Even so, it is hard to blame him for wanting a gun, which he has a God-given right to have under the 2nd Amendment. Probably the greatest Amendment of them all, if we’re being totally honest.”

“His father, one of our worst presidents, is more concerned with making the gun control people happy, so he won’t have the courage to step in here and help Hunter. Don’t worry, Joe – I will Save your son after I get elected (for the third time)!”

A Delaware jury found Hunter guilty on two charges for lying about his drug addiction on paperwork when he bought a gun, and on a third charge for being in possession of the firearm while addicted to drugs. The third count, a charge of possessing a gun while addicted to drugs, has attracted ire from some Second Amendment advocates who argue the amendment protects even the gun rights of drug addicts.

“Hunter might deserve to be in jail for something, but purchasing a gun is not it,” Representative Thomas Massie (R., Ky.) said. “There are millions of marijuana users who own guns in this country, and none of them should be in jail for purchasing or possessing a firearm against current laws.”

Georgia State Director for the Gun Owners of America Eric Blindfold said on X that he was “disappointed in the shortsightedness of the 2A community in the Hunter Biden case . . . Remove political partisanship from the equation, you don’t have to like Hunter Biden. Hell I don’t obviously. But this is a chance to further prove the unconstitutionally of the 4473.”

Individuals have to complete the Firearms Transaction Record, form 4473, before buying a licensed firearm. Although Hunter checked “no” when asked on the form if he is a drug addict, the issue is “what Hunter thought at the time,” defense attorney Abbe Lowell said. Lowell claimed that Hunter acknowledges his past drug addiction and while Hunter may have been in denial about his addiction, he did not “knowingly” lie to authorities on the form.

Trump also called the trial a “distraction from the real crimes of the Biden Crime Family, which has raked in tens of millions of dollars from China, Russia and Ukraine” in a statement.

“Crooked Joe Biden’s reign over the Biden Family Criminal Empire is all coming to an end on November 5th, and never again will a Biden sell government access for personal profit. As for Hunter, we wish him well in his recovery and legal affairs,” he said.

Right, just like Trump was going to testify in all his trials, or give up golf if elected, or have Mexico build a wall, etc., etc., etc
