Trumps tariffs are already working

Teflon Don

I'm back baby
Already a number of countries have come to the table agreeing to lower their tariffs on US goods. More will follow, and it will be best to be the first to the table.

Maybe the EU tries to band together as a bloc to remain stubborn. China will bloviate, but has made a huge mistake imposting more tariffs because while those jobs may not come back to the US, they will certainly go to places like Vietnam, Cambodia etc which has been happening anyway.

So what does this mean? It means that it is now going to be cheaper to sell American goods overseas. It also means that it will be less cost prohibitive to manufacture goods in the US.

All of this means a growing middle class and a growing economy.

Why are Marxists on JPP wringing their hands? They say it is about the stock market, but in reality 8% of people own 90% of stocks, so why would Marxists be crying for the top 10%?

They are wringing their hands because deep down, they know that Trumps vision will work and that is the worst thing that can happen for them. It was smart of Trump to take this pain early. It won't take long to see results and by then, nobody will remember this blip.

But, please do enjoy the pontificating of economically illiterate Marxists on JPP. It is fun to watch.

According to Trump? Is that why you didn't post a link?

Trump claimed the tariffs would encourage investment in manufacturing in America.

Companies are only going to invest billions of dollars into building industry in America only if they are certain that protective tariffs will remain in place and tariff policy won't flip-flop all over the place.

If Trump is willing to negotiate away tariffs, and if they're just a negotiating gimmick, then companies generally aren't going to risk investing billions in new American industry.

Tariffs are here to stay, regardless of globalists inventing cope in their dumb heads.

Even your Trump buddies said tariffs are just a gimmick to negotiate.

Why would multinational corporations risk investing billions in plants here, If they can't be certain that protective tariffs won't remain in place, if Trump is just using them as a negotiating gimmick, and if tariff policy will flip-flop all over the place?

they are not Trumpers.

they will lobby to keep the tariffs in place after they invest here.

you're stupid.

Meanwhile back in the real world the countries that we trade the most with have imposed reciprocal tariffs on US goods. China announced a 34% tariff on all US goods. US farmers sold $13 billion of soybeans to China last year. That market is essentially gone. Canada has imposed a 25% tariff on US autos and a 25% tariff on another $40 billion of US products. Europe is preparing counter measures for the new tariffs after having imposed tariffs on $28 billion of US goods for Trump's earlier tariffs.

Trump not only said he is willing to negotiate on tariffs, he flip-flops all over the place on them.

No responsible multinational corporation is going to invest billions in new plants here with so much chaos and uncertainty about tariff policy.

Trump is also lame duck president. He can't run for another term. The next president can completely overhaul the tariff system

The EU is meeting with China as we type.

These are the litany of arguments multinational corporations are seeing from Trump and the MAGA morons:

1) Permanent tariffs will encourage more manufacturing in the USA!

2) Tariffs are just a gimmick to get countries to negotiate!

3) Trump is willing to negotiate with countries on his tariffs!

That kind of chaos, uncertainty, and flip-flopping on tariff policy is not going to cause a grand Renaissance in American manufacturing.

The biggest impediment to manufacturing in the USA is the EPA. Environmental regulations are the primary reason that America is no longer an industrial powerhouse.

stop lying.

globalization zealotry is the reason we are no longer an industrial nation.

globalists and their dumb notions of creating a "consumer only society" is why we are no longer an industrial powerhouse.

Gimmick?

ROFL - you Stalinists are already constructing your excuses.

Retaliatory Tariffs are exactly as stated, retaliatory. Of course they are intended to force bad actors like Canada and China to the table. You are fine with Canada placing 450% tariffs on American goods, but can't understand why we would place a 25% tariff in return.

Yes, Canada really does impose a 450% tariff on dairy goods from America - which is effectively an outright ban. But you of the Marxist party call it "free trade." Trump has done nothing other than balance the scales.
