I understand why organized religion is making a comeback in product advertising. What better way to sell a product than tie it to a hybrid.

A century from now product commercials will be added to the long list of myths:

NOTE: Disney et al. made fortunes selling toys of their talking animals, and nobody cashed in on the secondary market more than:

I don't understand the point of this OP. Are you saying they have been lying to people about the mythical creatures and that this phenomenon isn't nothing new?

To AProudLefty: Get with the program.

Religion comes first. Terrifying hybrid creatures were later created to frighten the ‘believers.’ Try to imagine what fictional creatures will look like crewing fictional UFOs. Hint: They will not look like this:

In short: After UFOs become an established religion, part-human-part-monster will be created by the UFO priesthood for the same reason the ancients created them.

Well I agree that "they" have been using "aliens" or "gods of the sky or of the above" to establish a religion. That isn't an earthshaking news. Like comets for example.

Doesn't change the fact that there have been unexplained mysteries.

Cults die

This trump cult will die

Once it does cults won’t be running western world anymore

Nazis died

The Japan cult government died

Stupid doesn’t win in the end folks

To AProudLefty: There is only one mystery that will forever remain unexplained —— what happens when the body dies? Hamlet’s rumination is as good as any:

To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?

Every priesthood gains control over fools by giving them something to “. . . fly to . . .” . A choice between heaven and hell is organized religion’s masterpiece.

Throughout history, the hierarchies of organized religion took all the best of it because they, too, lived on the labors of their flocks. In return for a church’s riches priesthoods offered the laity God, and a better life in the hereafter. As Socialism gains political influence through taxation its liberal priests must finally be exposed as the frauds they are because they cannot offer eternal life to the people who do the work.

In truth, one God religions sell eternal salvation to the workers while Socialism promotes tax slavery without offering any spiritual reward; leading to the obvious conclusion —— Socialism is one sorry-ass religion when you get right down to it.

Nazis died

To evince: Fascism did not.

Communism grew in leaps and bounds among Democrat Party true believers. In short: Fascism and Communism are both sides of the same coin.

Mythical hybrids have symbolic meanings that are constantly misinterpreted. The Egyptian with one foot forward is said to symbolize a man in motion but in reality it's to show both legs. Many of us use totems as our avatar, you went from a bear to a cat and may not have put much thought into it. I wanted my totem to represent how others view me in the real world. Close friends to complete strangers I pass on the street call me goat -- long goatee, huge testis, social, curious, independent and intelligent. JPP keeping the screen name open for me had to be an omen.

Do you get arrested a lot for showing people your testis

Holy crap, Netflix tied hybrids to dating:

just saw this on the news........we should have a thread......I think I will start one....

If the universe is boundless, then an infinite number of planets with complex life forms would likely exist.
That would not explain how the hell they could get here, however.

Even if they could somehow survive a journey through lightyears of travel, why wouldn't we see them from a distance before they were already in our atmosphere?
UFOs are a National Enquirer level of discussion.

To NiftyNiblick: I will settle for:

phenomenon (noun)
plural phenomena (-ne)

1. An occurrence, a circumstance, or a fact that is perceptible by the senses.

2. plural phenomenons.. a. An unusual, significant, or unaccountable fact or occurrence; a marvel. b. A remarkable or outstanding person; a paragon. See synonyms at wonder.

3. Philosophy.
a. That which appears real to the mind, regardless of whether its underlying existence is proved or its nature understood. b. In Kantian philosophy, the appearance of an object to the mind as opposed to its existence in and of itself, independent of the mind.

4. Physics. An observable event.

Take my sighting for what it is worth.

Many years ago when I was on a ship below the equator an object appeared in outer space. If I remember right, the mate described it as twice the size of a planet. I think he said Neptune. His word carried some weight because he was the navigator and a trained observer. The sighting(s) was unusual because the object appeared two nights in a row.

To make a long boring story short, objects usually travel straight across the sky —— from one horizon to the other. The object that I and the mate on watch saw at the time disappeared halfway across the sky then disappeared. It either went straight up or made a U-turn giving the appearance of going straight up. The second night the master and one or two others saw it.

About a week or so later, both international editions of Time and Newsweek magazines reported that more UFOs were reported worldwide than at any other time previously.
