Interesting note is that Trump dumped on his own loyalist. He got them twice earlier to reject the same bill, but this time, as we know from meeting with Johnson prior and not taking a defiant stand here, wanted the bill passed for obvious political reasons, as always.

It doesn't bode well for the future that half the Republican party is pro-Kremlin and pro-Putin.
It telegraphs to the Kremlin that American resolve is questionable and probably no match for Russian tenacity.

I only hope the passage of this Ukraine aid bill is not too late for the Ukrainian military? The Ultra MAGA held up this aid bill for Ukraine for six months?!! It also shows the world that the U.S. may not be that reliable when it comes to our allies?!!
De Tocqueville wrote the exact same thought two hundred years ago, the way to defeat a democracy in war is to wait them out, eventually the citizenry will tire of the effort

This might very well be too little too late. Putin got to enough of them just long enough to make massive gains, and commit total destruction to most of the infrastructure.
The key is to get a ammunition and weapons to Ukraine as fast as possible, and hope the four month delay by Republicans wasn't fatal.

Two years ago you and I had differing opinions about how to proceed. I wanted to show Putin that he won't get away with this. You felt that a defensive posture would lure most of the world into the Ukraine camp. You worried about perception if Ukraine took the offensive.
We now see that Ukraine is in a shambles, and Putin has absolutely no worries about waiting out this mess for as long as it takes. He has infiltrated the U.S govt and 50% of the nation sides with him.
Ukraine's infrastructure is gone, and Russia is deeper than ever into Ukraine territory. It didn't have to be that way even with Ukraine's defensive posture, if the free world didn't give Putin months to take back control.
At some point, this war has to be taken onto Russian soil. It should have been 2 years ago.
