The Supreme Court has granted a request by the Trump administration to temporarily block a lower court order requiring that a deported Salvadorian man be returned to the US.

Chief Justice John Roberts agreed to pause a ruling that Kilmar Abrego Garcia should be brought back from El Salvador by midnight on Monday.

The government has said Mr Garcia was deported on 15 March due to an "administrative error", although they also allege he is a member of the MS-13 gang, which his lawyer denies.

In its emergency appeal to America's highest court, the Trump administration argued the Maryland judge lacked authority to issue the order and that US officials cannot compel El Salvador to return Mr Garcia.

This should negate dozens of lawsuits by the far left Democratic loons.

Leave it to the sick Democrats to oppose the deportation of violent illegal child rapists, gang members, and murderers

You are arguing against an 80%-20% issue.

The American people do not agree with you.

Most Americans, however, have a sense of compassion, empathy and justice.

The gov't made a mistake w/ this guy. All they're doing now is saying that they can't really admit they made a mistake.

This is a father & family man. Why do we need to be this cruel?

I'd have to disagree.

This particular case is cruel. The gov't admitted a mistake. They should bring this guy back.

He will lose supporters for mass deportation if he pursues this kind of thoughtless, cruel implementation of it.
Yes, I agree.

They should bring this guy back…to your house.

From what I understand he had an order that specified he could not be deported back to El Salvador, but not that he could not be deported at all. It would be interesting to have him come back only to find that because of a previous deport order he winds up somewhere he didn't even come from and still in custody. The "error" was in where, not that he was deported at all is what I am saying.

Another oddity, El Salvador would not extradite any of its own citizens to the US regardless of the crime they were charged with until 2010 when changes were made to the laws to allow it, but only for specific crimes.
