Median income in the US is essentially the same as in 1967, while mean has increased by more than 20,000 dollars.

If you account for the fact that there has been another entire earner (the woman) basically added since then, the average American breadwinner is actually making less money thirty years after the conservative revolution started.

always searching for cheap labor....they got it with women being added to the work force, and it brought all of the men's salaries DOWN.

And this is also what is happening with illegal labor brought in from Mexico....we say they are not here to do our jobs, but even if they aren't it still keeps and maintains legal labor, us, at a lower pay scale.

This is why we need to face ILLEGAL immigration and find the right balance of immigrants, ONLY LEGALLY, to bring in to solve any real shortage of workers we may have....

In general if there is a shortage of something, the price goes up. Salaries would have gone up for the average american if CHEAP labor were not brought in to our country ILLEGALLY to solve the shortage problem.

Illegal Immigration is a huge problem that most Democrats seems to pfffftoui on and Republicans tend to over react on....we need a solid LEGAL immigration plan, so that the immigrant workers are not treated as slaves and so that jobs that could be held by our own countrymen are not filled with cheap labor of these illegal immigrant slaves....THIS WILL at least maintain our wages for Americans if not make them rise....

and will also treat our immigrants that we do accept in as needed workers, with some honor and respect for their humanity....imo

I made this observation months ago, in the context of the stagnation of the middle class in the last 30 years. To the disbelief and incredulity of Reagan-worshipping Cons.
 
This is why its a problem to have federal umbrella tax code.

Mississippi's middle class - protected by the tax code
New jersey middle class (same exact lifestyle) - considered higher class in tax code.

Mississippi's cost of living is lower because it's less desirable to live here. Higher taxes are the cost of not living in a shithole, Chap. Live with it.

I honestly don't want to pawn it off on illegal immigrants but I'm sure that's some of it.

Whatever it is, it's only started happening since 1980.
 
Cheap labor has shit to do with it. Women are making money and producing now. That money and production should distribute to the families but instead its going to the rich. That's why the mean has gone up 20000 and the median has stialled.

do you think our productivity in this country has increased greatly, especially the last decade, because Americans are actually producing more per hour than they did previously orrrrrrrr perhaps because it costs the company less for their employees to produce about the same amount due to salary supression, while the product price rises?
