What happens if Trump is convicted in Bragg's case?

This is a really valid question. What happens if Trump is convicted? This is a state charge, so the state of NY has to be the one imprisoning him. How do they do it?

It isn't so straight forward as it seems. Trump, regardless, is still an ex-President. The conviction doesn't stop his entitlement to a Secret Service detail. He's a high profile inmate now, so where do you house him? You can't stick him in general population, and you can't put him in isolation in solitary confinement, so what do you do with him?

It could get even worse. What if he wins the 2024 election regardless of conviction? Now what?

If trump is convicted, and sentenced to prison time, then he surrenders at a police station. First he goes to jail, and then he is transported to a prison. The way they imprison him is put him in a room that locks from the outside, and then lock it.

The conviction doesn't stop his entitlement to a Secret Service detail.

That is much easier for someone in prison. trump would no longer be moving around in the general public, so guarding him would be simple.

They have protected state witnesses, who have huge criminal networks trying to kill them. They can protect trump.

and you can't put him in isolation in solitary confinement

Remember the Secret Service? They can keep him company, so he will not feel so solitary. All kidding aside, there are limited populations that he can talk to.

It could get even worse. What if he wins the 2024 election regardless of conviction? Now what?

That is where things start getting weird.

Put a Secret Service agent in Trump's cell

My guess is that Trump would be offered prison or house arrest, meaning he'd have to have a NY residence, which he does. It gets funnier if he's convicted in Georgia. LOL

Just execute Trump. Problem solved.

Letitia James tried to force Trump to pay a $454 million bond.

An appeals court said that was LUDICROUS and lowered the amount to $175 million.

Trump posted the $175 million bond.

Now Letitia is asking the judge to REJECT it.

This woman’s vengeance to take down Trump and seize his assets is INSANE.

Wrong. He first gets a pre-sentencing investigation, then once sentenced, he reports to wherever. The jail or prison based on that investigation assigns him a security level and any other things that might be issues. In his case, he's high profile, elderly (over 65), and has a secret service detachment that NY will have to deal with. It will become a HUGE cluster fuck.

That is much easier for someone in prison. trump would no longer be moving around in the general public, so guarding him would be simple.

Wrong. He is considered high profile and potentially a target for other inmates. Because the NY prison system has to make an effort to protect him, they're going to have a massive OMG cluster fuck on their hands. It isn't simple.

They have protected state witnesses, who have huge criminal networks trying to kill them. They can protect trump.

Yea, but what do you do about the Secret Service? There's more to this than your average criminal going to prison.

Remember the Secret Service? They can keep him company, so he will not feel so solitary. All kidding aside, there are limited populations that he can talk to.

Solitary confinement without justification, and there is none here, is out of the question as a solution.

That is where things start getting weird.
No, weirder...

You have no idea who Stalin is.

Governor Rod Blagojevich served 8 years in prison. He was an obvious target for crime, and had lifelong state police protection. It went fine.

If trump is convicted, and sentenced to prison time, then he surrenders at a police station.
Wrong. He first gets a pre-sentencing investigation, then once sentenced, he reports to wherever.

If sentenced to prison, then he surrenders at a police station. This is not complex. To get sentenced to prison, there are pre-sentencing investigations and hearings, but that does not change that "If trump is convicted, and sentenced to prison time, then he surrenders at a police station."

The jail or prison based on that investigation assigns him a security level and any other things that might be issues.

Jail is for less than a year, and prison is for more than a year. What jail or prison he went to would be based on security level. They have both prison and jail cells that are very safe.

It will become a HUGE cluster fuck.

They sentence high profile, elderly inmates all the time. Some are heavily targeted. Some have all sorts of protective details. It is far from a cluster fuck, other than in Gardner's little mind.

Yea, but what do you do about the Secret Service?

The Secret Service works within the prisons all the time. They enter the prison, just like any other law enforcement. They work with the New York Corrections officers to keep trump both safe, and confined.

The Secret Service is supposed to keep trump safe, NOT KEEP HIM FREE.

Solitary confinement without justification, and there is none here, is out of the question as a solution.

It is called protective custody, and there is a reason for it. I suppose if trump rejected it, he could petition for general population. Do you think he would want that?

If Trump gets time, it would be likely served at home. The complications of a twice-impeached ex-president would be difficult to handle. The only time he could get out would be for other trials. That means he would be living in hotels a lot. His crime dossier is long and will keep him busy.

If he’s convicted, he’s a felon who committed crimes related to election fraud.

If a convicted felon gets elected after he is found guilty of crimes related to election fraud, it’s a sad fucking commentary on the intelligence of this country. Sadder than it already is.

Probability is he won’t be, hung jury, but if he were, home confinement in Trump Tower, which that and the verdict itself, is delayed, postponed, and appealed
