What took McCain so long?

Remember when Obama came out & rejected Wright, conservatives screamed "political expediency" and said it was not credible, because he took a few weeks to come out so definitively?

"NBC News has been told that McCain decided to "reject" the endorsement of evangelical pastor John Hagee. While McCain has denounced some of Hagee's past comments, he had not until today rejected Hagee's actual support.

Advisers acknowledge this endorsement was not properly vetted and that McCain was not aware of the range of controversial comments Hagee has made."

It's been quite awhile since McCain accepted the endorsement. He's down in the polls, and his internal polling is telling him he has to campaign on Wright (because he can't campaign on Iraq or the economy), so he has to shed Hagee....
