now that the fed is trying to pump up the economy by lowering interest rates, it seems to have overlooked the problems following the nixon/ford/vietnam years

the hardest hit will be people in the poorest levels, people on fixed incomes and without the means to survive the coming fall

how many of you are old enough to remember double digit inflation

I remember stagflation in the 1970s in Australia. It came in about 1972 when the first Labor government in years (the Whitlam government) had been elected. By the end of 1975 they were dismissed from office by the Governor-General (Vice-Regal rep) and the conservative party here won the general election. Stagflation did it.

yeah Mortgage rates of 18% if I recall correctly.

Wage and price freezes. well except for congress.
