As far as I've seen, there has been no dictatorship that respected rights more than any democracy.

I voted for the democracy before I read the rest of it, to be honest.

Rereading it, I would rather have a military dictatorship which is more likely to be overthrown and replaced with something better than a police state where the people think they have power because 40% of them remember to go cast a worthless vote for one of 2 choices every two or four years.
