Condi Rice for VP?

The latest scuttlebutt is Romney will pick Condoleeza Rice as his VP running mate. The folks at Breitbart seem almost 100% sure of this, while others are skeptical. Drudge is also reporting this to be a 'done deal' as well, and claims to have 'inside confirmation' this will be the pick.

At first, it kind of surprised me. There is a lot of negative stigma from the Bush administration, and Condi was Bush's right hand...gal. This seemed at first to be a peculiar choice for that reason, but then I started thinking about it...those who HATE Condi, aren't going to be voting for Romney anyway. And even the 'moderates' have a hard time criticizing Rice, she is arguably one of the most intelligent politicians of our time. In a head-to-head debate with Gaffeball Biden, I think it would be no contest, she'd mop the floor with him. Never have seen Condi debate, but her grasp of foreign policy and worldview is light years ahead of him.

I know the Liberals are drooling at the prospects, believing this will be the Sarah Palin kiss of death for Romney, but I don't agree. I think it might be a very brilliant political move, given the circumstances. If a Romney/Rice ticket can chip away just 10% of the black vote, Obama is history. If they can cut into a chunk of the female vote, even worse for Obama.

I make no bones, I have ALWAYS loved Condi Rice! Even if I weren't a big Romney fan (which I am not) this is the kind of thing that would excite the crap outta me, and I think there are many conservatives who share my sentiments.

10% of 12% of the population is like 1.2%. Getting 90% of the black vote instead of 99% is hardly going to be the death kneel of the Obama campaign. And you're not to get that 9%, I promise you.

Condoleezza Rice would be a brilliant choice. She is 10 times smarter than Palin, and much more qualified and well-informed. There is no way in hell liberals would get away with trying to make her look stupid. Just imagine a debate between Rice and Biden...

I agree. Rice may not have much "wow appeal", but she's smart and she's been in the trenches; a good, solid choice for VP.

Damn, and they just put her name back on that Halliburton oil tanker that was removed for political reasons when gwb tapped her as a cabinet member. She was, like Dick Cheney, about as high as one can go in the oil industries. I wholeheartedly agree, however, that she would be an excellent choice for a rumney running mate. It would solidify the reputation of reflubs for always going for the pandering votes. Like others here I really do like Condi.

I like Hussein's total dumbass VP, what's his name, a lot, too. ;)

Why do you think Biden is going to even be offered the VP position for Obama?

I don't think her time in the Bush administration will be as damaging to her nomination as is her being pro-choice. I think that might be her biggest liability, I am sad to say.

If Dr. Rice becomes the VP nominee, when is it not too soon to start hoping something happens to romney? Personally, I would prefer her in the Oval Office.

I don't think there is a scale to measure how much smarter Rice is than Palin. As far as 'book smart', she is probably one of the smartest people to serve in public office, in our lifetime. I can indeed imagine a debate... but I can imagine the liberal media doing everything they can to walk Biden through, and pretend he held his own. The ONE area Condi may be lacking in, is the ability to stand there and tell a straight out LIE while appearing honest. Biden has that.. it comes from being a politician for years and years, and I fear Condi may not be cut from the same mold. She's a straight shooter, where Biden is a complete spin machine... it would be an interesting match up, for sure. I'd pay to see it!

With her story, and her intelligence, I think Rice has tremendous "wow appeal." What a role model for young people, African-Americans and women. And her story is much closer to the real experience of blacks in America than Obama's tapestry. I think that might make a huge difference with the black vote.

I don't think Rice is "pro-choice," I've never heard that. I can't believe Bush would have chosen her for a cabinet position if that were the case. I seem to recall her being asked about it, and she basically said she respects the SCOTUS ruling in Roe v. Wade. That doesn't mean she's pro-choice, a lot of people respect Roe, but are NOT pro-choice. I would never hope something happens to our president, even the current douche-bag, but that said, I would have no problem whatsoever in President Rice.

I'm sure Breitbart and Drudge loved getting that little memo from the Romney campaign. Except it only deflected from the Bain story for a day.

Hint for Republican strategists: Next time you want to start a rumor, do it on Monday.

I don't disagree that Condi is a brilliant lady, but I do question her conservative credentials. Smart isn't enough anymore. Where does Condi stand on the issues? Does anyone know? All anyone knows is that she is an expert on Russian foreign policy.

I don't think it is a smart idea to pick someone from the Bush administration. All it will do is feed into the OWEbummer narrative that "Romney wants to take us back to the failed policies.....blah blah blah".

I wish there was a much stronger conservative candidate than Romney. Yet another republican I have to hold my nose for when I vote this year.

Dixie and company, you don't care that she is pro-choice, pro-amnesty and basically a social liberal?

Btw, no way she will be chosen, she is single... No kids... Owns a house with another very liberal woman! Oh, and in many ways the archectect of tge Iraq War.

You're right there. She is vastly more qualified than Palin who, to be honest, wasn't qualified at all. So you haven't exactly set the bar very high using Palin as a comparison. Be that as it may. Rice is unquestionably qualified and no her political opponents would not attack her on that basis. More than likely they would attack her on her faulty judgement in regards to the run up to the Iraq invation. How the Bush administration mislead the American public into an immoral war and how she was part of the effort to not only mislead the American public into the immoral war in Iraq but was a key ideologue in the administration that turned the Iraq war into a cluster fuck. That's where Rice would be attacked. I doubt Romney would choose a neocon like Rice. What he would gain in the woman and black vote, which would probably be small, he'd lose in moderates and independents who are still angry about Iraq. That's a sleeping dog he'd be wise to let alone. I don't think he'll chose Rice. I think Romney will go with someone safe who would not be polarizing like Rice would be. My guess is that Romney will not chose a running mate based on attracting a constituency but will probably chose a business man or woman with political experience.

Btw, no way she will be chosen...

I don't think she will be chosen but I think she is getting a look.

she is single

So what?

Again, so what? Are kids a prerequisite?

Owns a house with another very liberal woman!

So? are you implying she's gay? Wow, wouldn't that make liberal heads explode....heh, heh....

Oh, and in many ways the archectect of tge Iraq War.

How many "architects" do you people want to invent? I mean seriously...Libs will cry if the under secretary to the assistant, to the secretary, of the head of white house car parking in the Bush era white house were to be mentioned...It's pathetic.

Yea well you better get used to it. After the catastrophe that was the Bush administration it will be a looooooong time before some nut job ideological conservative will get closer than Alabama to the White House. You can hang that up.
