Also... from that link it states just the opposite. the Reps refused to cut the robotics, but rather were cutting more from the manned missions (just the opposite of Desh's claim)

Yes and where is the pressure coming from? You attempted to make it sound like NASA was under the gun due to Obama policy and budget cuts...I provided you with some information you needed so you're aware that the baggers budget has more severe cuts to NASA....

Probably a bad idea to cut any NASA spending. We are in a recession after all. If we should increase government spending it should be programs like NASA that we spend it on.

That's highly debatable. Not all the discoveries that come out of NASA have technology transfer potential. Though we don't have to worry about NASA taking over the government because they got to much power but be that as it may, the money being spent by the program is going towards salaries of people who will spend that money for their standard of living and put that money into circulation. Same with the contractors being employed, they put the money they recieve directly into circulation so the net affect is the same whether is DOD or NASA spending the money.

Much of what you say is true and I have a personal stake in those local dollars from defense contractors...my son works for one but our military spending is totally overblown...just because the budget is attempting to cut all public service jobs and kill the government while the cuts trickle down to the states and cause havoc with their budgets and putting hundreds of thousands out of work, many of whom are women. It isn't hard for anyone paying attention to see how this meme that we're broke (we aren't) is used to put teachers out of work, privatize everything (more profit) including the military. This is an issue that could be discussed for a long time. Our DOD budget is HUGE and we could put our money to much better use AND help the economy without spending it on destruction and corporate empire.

I don't neccessarily disagree about our bloated millitary......and that's an issue that certainly needs addressed. I'm just saying that now may not be a good time.

The money could be spent helping our country...we have a lot of infrastructure problems and we need to move over to a green energy policy for instance. In any case..NASA programs are money well spent.

However, the right will never support anything that improves our economy or supports our middle class and poor. They are invested in trying to saddle Obama with the results of their failed economic policy.

they cannot pass anything and prevent the majority from passing anything without a super majority of 60 votes
