NYPD: 9 shooting bystander victims hit by police gunfire Read more: http://www.foxne

Why don't you try this.
You and a friend of your choice go down and practice with some paint ball guns, until you feel your proficient.
You can't load them anymore then a regualar Police weapon holds.

Once you feel your proficient, gather up around 24 friends.
One of them gets to be the "shooter" but he gets to wear protective gear.
The other 23 get to be "pedestrians" and they also get to wear protective gear.
Now you and your friend have to have your weapons holstered, you have to run up on the shooter, and when he turns and points his weapon at you, you then get to draw and fire back.\
By the way, you and your friend don't get to wear protective gear.

After you and your friend have fired a total of 14 shots, I want you to count how many hit the "shooter", how many hit a "pedestrian" and how many missed everything.

I bet you anything that you don't hit the "shooter".

AHHHHHHHHHH - Poor little Yurt just HAD TO groan me over this; because it interfered with his bitching and moaning.
:D

Prove I groaned over a dozen of your posts at random; unless your mangina just has an itch you can't scratch. :D

So be a man about it and back up your assertion. :)

Here's how STY would have handled the NY situation.
It's a scene from his first Movie role as The Waco Kid.
maybe you should read the whole thread instead of jumping to wild assed conclusions. of course, you can continue to think that the police did that absolute best job that anyone could have, but you'd still be wrong.

I'm not one of the ones casting aspirtions on what was done, so instead of bitching and moaning; show what you're made of, seeing as how you seem to have found fault with the situation and nothing positive.
sometimes I wish I'd pursued a psychology degree, because then it might help me understand what it is about some peoples psyche that defends obviously incompetent behavior, but only when it's done by law enforcement.

What would you have done?
as stated before, under the training that i've had I would have fired twice before assessing further action. After that, who knows because the situation will have changed. It really isn't that difficult to understand, yet why is it that most people are ready to categorize people without government training as incapable or inadequate?

And if your first two missed, you would probably be dead.

When's the last time you shot at someone from 8 ft, with them shooting back, without cover?

about the same time as it was for these two cops, however, did they do any more training than the once a year at the range? I have. I go to the range at least once a month and have done IDPA shoots occasionally. I've also trained in combat tactics and firing as a marine. I'm pretty damned sure that I would have done better than these two cops.

Well you go right ahead and believe that you're better; but I pray you don't have to ever respond in such a manner, because I'm not sure you really are prepared.
Ranges don't shoot back.
Marines aren't usually involved in pistol shoot outs, at 8 feet.

it's called 'Close Quarters Combat'. we train in it because we do it.

And of course you've been involved in a shootout at 8 ft, where your pistol was holstered and you didn't draw until the shooter turned and pointed a weapon at you.
Then you just fired two shots and reassessed the situation.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

i find it funny that USF is saying STY is full of it because he has never been involved in a similar situation.....WHEN....USF has not either

No, i've never had the misfortune of being in actual close quarters combat, just training for it. I did, however, qualify with the pistol in the marine corps, where the first part of the qualification is at 10', having to draw and fire twice in 4 seconds. I placed both rounds in the diameter of a nickel.
