As opposed the to people who sincerely believe that god promised them that land, then when Moses pissed him off he made the israelis wander around in the desert for 40 years. The same people who believe that when you leave a land for 1500+ years, you still have a claim to that territory?

originally they were going to be given a piece of germany as payment for the holocaust, but instead they were given a piece of relatively useless desert

the brits expected the jews would be slaughtered by their arab neighbors...instead the jews fought them off
