And a recent poll commissioned for the Albuquerque Journal showed Obama leading Romney 45 percent to 40 percent...



Political scientist Larry Sabato said Romney must win close to 40 percent of the national Latino vote, although there is a slight margin for error.



"If white turnout is up relative to other races, then Romney could get away with a slightly lower proportion," Sabato says.

Two prominent Republicans distance themselves:


Nevada Sen. Dean Heller and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez both said they view the word differently than Romney.


“You got to understand, I grew up with five brothers and sisters. My father was an auto mechanic. My mother was a school cook,” Heller told Scott Wong. “Every vote in Nevada counts, every vote. And as a United States senator, my job is to represent every one of those votes, whether they voted for me or against me.”


Make that three Republicans taking Mitt Romney to task for his “47 percent” remarks.


On Tuesday, Republican Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts said he disagreed with Romney’s “47 percent” comments.
