Israel's right to exist

the area referred to as palistine was never a nation, it was a section of the middle east that was referred to as palistine without its own government at the time. the occupants of palestine (and other arabs) sided with the nazis during wwii. the western powers (mainly britain) that won won wwii decided to give the then worthless area to the jews as a homeland rather than give them a piece of germany (this was to punish the arabs that sided with the nazis). the expectation was that the arabs would kill the jews and take the area back, but the arabs failed to do so. many of the native arabs of the area abandoned their homes fearing that they would be killed during the war. however, the jews won and have occupied the area ever since (even being recognized by the un). at least two more arab led wars against israel have been won by israel (with israel winning control of the entire gaza area, but later returned to egypt).

israel has offered to recognize the gaza strip and the golan area as a palestinian state, but the palestinians have refused to recognize israel and called for its destruction and the death of all of its jews (which they refuse to consider human) and want the entire area back. while there are islamic factions that are willing to arm the palestinians, none of the current arab nations are willing to go to war with israel.

israel's 'right to exist' is basically the same as most nations today. it was won by bloodshed and war. it was taken away from the natives and held by the conquers just like most if not all nations today. the process continues even today (although most such wars are religious in nature) rather than wars of conquest by foreign nations (except for kashmir and tibet which china is trying to take over). also, see the history of the rise and fall of the ussr or iran, iraq and persia or checkout the changes in the global geopolitical maps of the world over the last few centuries. while you are at it, you might checkout the history of the 'americas' and why spanish and portugese are spoken in some nations rather than their 'native' langues. there is also 'quebec' in canada or the origins of alaska. while you are at it, you may want to checkout why there are so many languages spoken in the u s of a (not just spanish).

Now; this is the Don Quixote that I remember. :D

Yes. Unfortunately it has no teeth and that is why Israel fails to comply with any of its resolutions. They should be FORCED to follow those resolutions otherwise the body's hands are tied.

To hell with that BS. Israel has the right to protect their people. The UN is nothing but a sewer full of corrupt rats. Everyone who values liberty and peace should ignore them.

In your sabbatical, from this site, you seem to have forgotten that no other nation wants the Palestinians then or now.

No! The poster claimed that it was jews that were unwanted and that is a lie. Most welcome their dirty money. The Palestinians on the other hand are dirt poor, with only their land to survive. Take away their land and what do you have? Refugee camps all over the ME.

Who exactly are the Palestinians? What are they doing In Palestine? How did they get there? Do you they have an Islamic origin? How many were forced into Islam via the Ottoman Empire?

Same thing with the Gypsies. Where did they come from? They must have had a home land at one point. They were driven from the land and left to wonder the lands with no homeland.

normally I love a good debate with you, but you're not making any sense with this one. trying to put some sort of statute of limitations on the conquering of a nation is blatantly ignoring the absurdity of your own argument to make yourself right.

I'm making all the sense in the world. Are you saying that modern day people should accept the conquering of Nations? Like the example I gave. Spain is under economic woes. Should they attack Portugal and conquer them? Who would accept that? You'd have ever country arming themselves to the teeth which we are kind of witnessing with America's blatant attack on Iraq. Which the international community DID NOT recognize.

China took over Tibet and since Tibet doesn't have too many international allies? No one said anything.

Other then that? We have no such incidents happening in modern times, other then maybe the Falkland Islands?? I believe the Falkland Islands DO belong to Spanish Argentina! And the British should have no claim to the Island, but since the British had a claim for so long and the Inhabitants preferred to live under British rule? The international community, just let it slide, but the Island DOES belong to Argentina, and I believe they will eventually gain the land back!

The Palestinians are Arabs. Most of them are Jordanians. Arafat was an Egyptian.

Yeah....defending yourself from rockets is acting like a Nazi....only on your world.....

Israeli "aggression' is a myth.....being under attack from terrorists form decades demands a response in kind....get a clue Nazi.

Nice spin!!! That's like China coming and occupying America, and Americans fighting the occupation and China calling them terrorists. The terrorists are the occupiers!Especially the ones constantly dropping bombs on your houses and tanks smashing down your houses.

Every time land is given to the Pals, they use it to fire rockets into Israel. What should be done about that?
