Raising minimum wage hurts those liberals claim to help

http://www.socsci.uci.edu/~dneumark/min_wage_review.pdf

Scientific study proves that higher minimum wage causes higher unemployment especially among the unskilled which happens to be Obama's base (younger folks, blacks and women and the newly minted hispanics).

Of course anyone with a rudimentary understanding of basic economics could have already told you this.

Rudimentary understandings of economics are often wrong and proponents and opponents of a higher minimum wage can each point to economic studies supporting their respective cases. It's disingenous (at best) to point to one study and pretend that it resolves the economic question.

Can you find a study that refutes the one in the OP? If not, what are you basing your opinion on?

And really, I don't get the opposition to raising the minimum wage. People hate that poor people don't pay taxes and they hate that poor people get government benefits and they also hate that the government requires private employers to pay poor people a little more. I'm beginning to wonder if they don't just hate poor people.

Minimum wage jobs are not supposed to be the type of job a person builds a career upon. They are entry level positions in most cases. The person who relys on a minimum wage job is usually unskilled and uneducated.

Should we reward people who get trained and get educated by giving an artificial pay boost to people who did neither?

Yeah, and they also want their grandmothers to eat dog food and stuff! Those evil people who want something different than Dung are just teh evilllls! Barely human, and that's stretching it to call them human, and stuff! Just thinking about those things sitting there just hating people who don't pay taxes... just burns me to my core! It makes me hate them! In fact I've hated them longer than they hated me... I hated them before it was cool!

When a hard working skilled worker hears about the unskilled recieving a pay boost they will be apt to demand a raise as well. How much will wages just above the new minimum have to be raised to maintain morale among slightly more skilled workers? How much will this drive inflationary forces?

All questions the liberal never even considered

Making your grandparents eat dog food is evil!

I know how much you dislike it when I point out the consequences of the policies you support but I'm going to continue doing it.

Who is "the liberal?"

LOL. Team mentality in politics makes people say stupid things. "They want dirty air!" Yeah, because clearly poison becomes oxygen once you move into a McMansion... They'll just breathe money, let the poor breathe cake! They no longer care about their grandmothers and mothers, because they are a whole different species!

It isn't policies you are against, your previous post made that clear. You are just petulant because some people think differently than you do. In order to justify it you dramatize and extrapolate that even their basest emotions, like self-preservation, are superseded by their need to want dirty air... they hate the poor so much they'll even kill their own kids with dirty water...

You seem to project a lot and have a vivid imagination.

I don't think Republicans are evil as a general matter, just indifferent and generally have the interests of rich people in mind. Which is fine. Rich people matter, too. But let's not pretend that policy choices don't have real life consequences.

I'm not the one who thought "they" just "hate the poor"... that is projection, Dung, and what I was describing. You entertain me again, and are back to the old Dung. Team politics, f*ck yeah!

You work hard to ensure you have no way to empathize or create any common ground with "those" people, you do it by telling them they want to kill grandma and "hate" poor people. I'm good with that, but will continue to point it out.

When the President says, "They want dirty air!" do you feel the IQ points dropping out of your head, or does it happen without fanfare?

I know you already know the arguments but I'll put one of them out there anyway. To me, if an individual is already hired at minimum wage and the minimum wage is raised and they keep their job that is a benefit to them. They will make more money for doing the same work. The question, as you know, is what does that do to the big picture? Does the owner of the business hire less workers? There is obviously an economic effect otherwise the government would just arbitrarily raise the MW to $15 or $20.

You say it's a matter of not liking poor peolpe but a large number of minimum wage workers are part-time workers and teenagers (often one and the same). I thought all people hated teenagers?

I love the pretense that you aren't on any "team." It cracks me up every time you do it. You're a Republican. I don't know why you're ashamed of it.

And these games you play where you don't actually engage on the issue under discussion are just your method of defending he status quo that benefits the interests of Team Republican. It's fairly transparent.
