It doesn't. By any objective measure W was the most inept and incompetent occupant of the White House since Warren G. Harding. Obama's legacy will be for reforming health care and digging us out of the shit hole Bush and company dumped us into. Now that won't exactly make him a Great President but it's a substantially more significant accomplishment than either Reagan or Clinton had.

Obama is an average President. He's not exceptional, he's not terrible.

The right is always going to say that any Democratic President is a disaster. Limbaugh spoke for most righties when he wrote "I Told You So" about Clinton, and conservatives in general slammed that guy every day as the worst thing to ever happen to this country. Now, when any American looks back on the '90's, they generally look at those years as some of the best we've ever had, and possibly the last great days of the republic.

Right or wrong, even if Obama is seen as having had very little in the way of accomplishment, although Healthcare is BIG, he will go down as one of the greatest. A two term black President. Sorry but that does it right there. Even if he was white Healthcare like it or not would have made him stand out above many of the rest.
