Obama got a higher percentage of votes in his two election victories than any other Democratic Presidential candidate since 1964 (LBJ) yet it's racism that's holding voters back.

Our unemployment rate is way higher than it should be and growth is too slow yet it's racism that it's not called a great economy.

Would expect nothing less in a post from cartoon ken.

i suppose that you have ignored the repug obstructionism in congress where oddball mitch proclaimed that his top priority was to make obama a one term president

i do not know just how racial the repug obstructionism is, but i do know what it is doing to our nation and it is nothing good or at least very little of it is good

every few weeks we have another pseudo crisis where the repugs threaten to not do what they should be doing and then change their mind at the last minute

you act as if the u s still ran the world economy, well that has not been true for over a decade

problems in europe precipitated by our greedy bankers has thrown the world into an economic mess, including india and china

china is the worst of the lot, they need to expand and do not have the natural resources to do it and are looking around to try and buy or steal wherever they need...china is likely heading for a bust of its own that may screw up the world economy again

and in the midst of this, the repugs instead of working with the dims, are doing what they can to screw up and keep screwed up our economy so their masters can keep wages and benefits low while raking in profits as fast as they can

the repugs are still trying to implement an economic plan that has been shown to fail, yet they keep trying it over and over again expecting different results...one of the definitions of insanity

and yah, racism is mixed in there, please note that the vast majority of minority voters voted for obama not rummy and the majority of older white males voted for rummy

so what do the repugs do, try and stifle the minority vote and gerrymander minority voters into as few districts as possible and as many repug voters as possible into more districts so that they can control the house, however, that leaves the repugs in the house out on limb with obama sawing it off

There are some sprinkles of truth in your post regarding banks and China, but the rest is off the mark.

First of all, yes Mitch McConnell wanted to make Obama a one term President. Isn't that what opposition parties do? Didn't Reid and Pelosi want to make Bush a one term President? Your shock over this is downright hilarious. Either it is feigned indignation or you are really unaware of how politics really works. Which is it?

Now, other than No Child Left Behind, show me where the democrats "reached across the aisle" to work with Bush? Was it on reforming Social Security? Was it on national defense? Again, your amnesia of current history is laughable at best.

You think because Obama won the election the GOP should roll over and give him what he wants? If Romney would have one, should the dems have rolled over and given him what he wanted?

Yes DQ, i know that everything that has happened under Obama's watch has been the fault of Republicans in Congress. (and go read all of McConnel's quote that you frequently use a portion of)

one of us is misinterpreting the OP. I see the OP as saying the economic recovery is excellent and if Obama were white we'd be celebrating how good it is and giving him the credit. You obviously see it differently by your effort to defend Obama from any blame from a poor economy.

Our unemployment rate is higher than it 'could' be, because unlike Reagan/Bush/Bush 2.0, Obama CUT public sector jobs. Can you say the same about the way the aforementioned addressed the recessions they endured?

DQ, you are complaining about gerrymandering here but IIRC back in 2005 (or around that time) Arnold put a measure on the ballot that would have taken the power of gerrymandering out of the hands of politicians in California and into a group of judges (not politicians) and you said you voted against it. (It was ultimately put on the ballot again in 2010 and passed.)

Why are you against it now but not then when we had a chance to do something about it?

Obama beat Hillary in the Democratic Primaries because the country didn't want to elect someone with a Bushlike stench. So Hillary would have lost to McCain is what you are saying.

I don't think race plays much into this. Sure there were folks who voted for him due to his race - and AAs who though he'd be more sympathetic to them as a whole - and those who voted against him for the same reason. I don't know the numbers, but there was likely a balance.

And everything else remaining the same, he'd still be a politician, still center right, still fairly liberal, still a corporatist, still silent about poverty, still unable to address the problem of unemployment, still a supporter of Israel, still a "corporate puppet".
