Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe (R) said on Tuesday that federal aid to tornado-ravaged parts of his home state will be "totally different" than a Hurricane Sandy aid bill he voted against late last year.

Speaking on MSNBC, the lawmaker said that in the case of Hurricane Sandy, "everybody was getting in and exploiting the tragedy that took place." However, he said, "that won't happen in Oklahoma."

The people of Oklahoma bear a huge responsibility for Inhofe and his insane thoughts.

Oklahoma sits in tornado alley, and for them to have a senator (small s) who espouses cutting off federal aid for disaster relied is as repugnant as his foolish words.

Maybe Oklahoma should have borrow the money for relief from the government and tax its citizens for the interest.

I think that is a good idea, and much better than having the relief "offset" by cutting programs in my state, considering what they think of us, why should we foot the bill?

clearly, that is not the case, or she would thread ban everyone who might disagree with her... I don't believe she hates dissension, she just doesn't enjoy your company. Few of any stripe do.

I always ban DY, USF and ILA because they are terrible people who ruin every thread they get on in my experience. I started banning one sword after he made some very disgusting comments to me. I rarely ban Tom even though I dislike him and don't agree with him, but did today because he is freshly steamed and who wants to hear it. I never ban Bravo, but for this thread, I really didn't want to hear bs.

For the most part, my thread bans are DY, USF, and ILA. And they are far from the only three here I disagree with. But they are low, crude, creepy, and in one case, evil, people.

I read this same thing. All those Republicans who voted against aid for blue state sufferers of Sandy "now" don't want to play the political "offset" game with red state Oklahoma. Them thar people in Okly - homa is good fokes.

If the feds weren't taxing everyone so heavily then charities would be able to spend more. The first folks trucking in relief were from outside the state...

The people of Oklahoma should not be denied assistance because of the insanity of their highest elected leaders .. but they bear a responsibility for all the insane policies they support .. and by extension .. its citizens support.

The same is true of Kentucky and Rand Paul.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 5, 2012 — The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has designated seven counties in Kentucky as primary natural disaster areas due to losses caused by excessive heat and drought that began April 1, 2012, and continues.

“Our hearts go out to those Kentucky farmers and ranchers affected by these natural disasters,” said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. “President Obama and I are committed to ensuring that agriculture remains a bright spot in our nation’s economy by sustaining the successes of America’s farmers, ranchers, and rural communities through these difficult times. We’re also telling Kentucky producers that USDA stands with you and your communities when severe weather and natural disasters threaten to disrupt your livelihood.”

Farmers and ranchers in the following counties in Kentucky also qualify for natural disaster assistance because their counties are contiguous.
