Where's The Women?

This I do not have a problem with, nor do I necessarily object to defunding Planned Parenthood. In my mind, being pro-choice means women should have access to all available information. As for government funding of abortion or organizations that provide abortion, I oppose it. I'm 100% pro-choice (for the first trimester, at least), but I don't think taxpayer dollars should fund an activity as controversial as abortion. Let the 'pubs have their way on that issue and progress will come easier. Just imagine how much more cleanly we could have passed the ACA had abortion funding never been in the equation. Hell, Dems probably could have bundled a public option with a complete defunding of PP and it may have had a shot.

Your right. Poor people who can barely fend for themselves should definitely have the additional burden of raising children if they can't afford an abortion.

As in Egypt and Turkey, a government of fanatics can be elected and enforce its will, at least for a time, as did Hitler who was also, in a sense, elected Chancellor. It doesn't seem a sensible way to run the brewery, however, does it, to bully half the population?

I think many are coming to the conclusion that running a democracy with large secular and populations is nigh on impossible.

This law ain't just hating abortion.. it's hating women.

need a low-cost pap smear or mammogram?* then move.. because you ain't getting any in Ohio.

raped and need advice? you won't get any in Ohio..

but the scariest part of all? if you do somehow find a way to have an legal, medical procedure known as an abortion and something goes wrong or there is some kind of medical emergency? too bad hooker, you can just die while looking in the phone book for a private hospital to service your slut-self..because you're not fucking allowed to use a public hospital anymore!

I mean, wow!* women in medical crisis, unable to use public hospitals? forced, by law to find a private hospital, ya know.. the ones that are allowed to deny you care if you have no insurance..

while a woman is bleeding out or getting septic? she's got to call around to find someone to treat her now if she lives in Ohio? AND OBAMA'S THE 'DEATH PANEL' TYRANT?

This is just horrific. There is no debate - they are waging a war on women. The reason why some JPP posters squeal like stuck pigs when someone states this is because they chafe at wearing the woman-hater label. Too bad.

The trouble is - I think anyway - that the USA is beginning to look horribly like those countries, with everything totally contested by groups with almost nothing in common.

Can't believe all of that is in the Ohio law. Thanks for posting, Howey. And yeah, sounds like Ohio just hates women, as do some posters on this board. The nastiness is in full sight on this thread.

Ohio governor signs strict anti-abortion law. Not a woman in sight.

Meanwhile, today nutcase Republican Virginia Foxx was dismayed at why the Republicans couldn't recruit women.

they live in a bubble of their own lies and only talk to each other. they think that their lies about wanting women and minorities to join their 'party' will be believed and no one will notice what they do does not match what they say.

The only thing we hate in Ohio is Michigan.

notice the strategy involved. they wait until the last minute to inject objectionable laws and think that no one will notice.

how about a law that requires a proposed law be published at least 3 days before it is voted on and if someone wants to amend it, another 3 day period starts with a new complete publishing of the law. also, no anonymous authors of proposed laws or amendments.

Didn't The Obama propose this? Whatever happened to that?

A fair point, and one that I have given some thought. But there will always be women's health clinics willing to offer these services to low-income women.
