The Force is With Me

The victory in the murder of Emmett Till in 1955 was that it was the catalyst that inspired one of the most dramatic social changes the world has ever known in the Civil Rights movement in America. On the world stage, It torn a giant hole in the facade of America as a land of justice, freedom, and opportunity. American racism was once again exposed for all the world to see .. and the bravery of Mamie Till to leave the casket of her son open for all the world to see left no doubt about the horrors innocent people had to endure in this land of monsters.

The monsters that did this walked free, declared 'innocent.'

Today, nearly 60 years later, another all-white southern jury declares another murderer of another black boy free and 'innocent' on the world stage .. and once again, the monsters celebrate .. and once again, American evil is exposed to all the world.

It took 364 years for African-Americans to gain basic human rights in this so-called 'land of the free.'

364 years of horrors, oppression, and terrorism before being granted second-class citizenship in America.

The glaring message of the Martin trial .. in spite of the Civil Rights Act, and in spite of a black president, African-Americans are still second-class citizens in a country we've been in for 400 years.

African-Americans we are, and will always remain. Something more of us need to teach our children.

Well-said. And true. We will never be assimilated because the only true Americans, in white America's eyes, are "white Americans". White privilege is still the law of the land

To compare the systematic racism of 60 years ago to the trial of zimmerman is shameful. BAC I think you're better than this.

Ha! Like anything has changed. The criminal justice system is corrupt and unfair to minorities, as this case proves. So many minorities are convicted, only to be released due to DNA evidence. What does that tell you? That there is a rush to judgment, when it comes to minorities, and that there are different kinds of justice, based on race and class.

Enough race-baiting.

Zimmerman was found to have defended himself. He was tried and found innocent.

There is no race-baiting...only pointing out that the case was all about race, and racial profiling, and a psycho "wanna be cop" playing cops and robbers. And a 17 year old boy was murdered.

Fuck that.

Why don't you just go pop some champagne and celebrate the trophy .. the death of a boy.

The rest of us will discuss this in whatever manner we choose.

I'm not interested in what you think of the trial, Martin, or black people.

I've been watching shit like this all my life .. something you have no understanding of, no context.

Don't presume to lecture me about race in America.

Some were so desperate and vested that the media lies were true, they still hang on to them even though all of America has seen the truth.

Well, the one thing we know about you is that you're a "gun nut". Guns are for Patriots????????????? Really? BS.

Oh yeah. These two cases are EXACTLY the same. How the heck did I miss that?

They aren't. Unfortunately, BAC has allowed himself to be manipulated by the media. He falls back on "You don't understand the black man" mentality. It is a shame. BAC likes to come across as level headed, but he is no different than Poet. He has a huge chip on his shoulder.

He and Poet don't want to see that Zimmerman himself is a minority. It doesn't matter to them that he was acquitted by ALL women. Nope, they want to believe that this country is still 1960. Why? Well, that way any failings of themselves and or the black community can be laid at the feet of "whitey". And really, does it ever get any better than being able to blame all of your life's failings on someone other than yourself?

No.

Technically, that number is 345. You should count from 1619, when the first Africans arrived on the shores of North America, rather than from 1600, before there was even a successful colonial settlement here.

I am so sorry... and deeply ashamed.
