If you ever bothered to read it, the actual Roe v Wade decision specifically stated that if theologians, philosophers and scientists could not agree when life began, and they presented testimony, the Court itself did not feel confident to decide for others. In other words, American women were free to choose their life for themselves, according to their own personal choices. And the matter gets even more muddy. We all know that when an egg is implanted in the cell wall and then fertilized, it is then expelled at the next period. In other words, God himself aborted these 'lives'. So is a fertilized egg life? It might be, it has the potential to become life, but it is not an individual life. That comes later on in pregnancy.

Conception is an easy place to mark such an event. So is 'birth' which is the standard preferred by those of us who do not want to interfere in the personal lives and problems of women. In some cultures even a baby was not enough, infant mortality was so high that babies weren't named until their first birthday. But the standard is not, and never has been, universal. It is a choice, one people of good conscience should be free to make according to the dictates of their own conscience and beliefs. The desire to take away their right to exercise their own individual decisions is a blow against freedom, and a blow to impose governmental tyranny over universal choice.

you're wrong... the penalty of death is only if the woman dies, not her "fruit".

uh, until Obamacare came along nothing had to be "grandfathered".......the simple fact is that, as you say, they made changes to policies that had previously been acceptable before the ACA went into effect in January, 2014 and were not acceptable as of January, 2014......it isn't greedy insurance companies that made those policies unacceptable, it was the ACA......

and the "they" that knew it would cause policies to be rejected was the Obama administration.....

the physical injury is to the mother, not to the child. abortion haters always misrepresent that verse.
 
One very real problem with the whole life begins at conception thing is also that we did not really know about conception and how it medically occcured until we developed. Modern microscopes about 150 years ago. So the idea that morally we have always seen life as starting at conception is pretty much bullshit.

. Exactly. What would you do with a 15 year old girl who had been raped by a neighbor? If you say that life begins at conception and that life can be terminated for no reason, you force her to carry the child to term...something I am not wiling to do. And I know a vase just like this...she decided not to abort and is now a 16 year old mother going to high school and doing just fine. But it was her choice.
