I do not know, but the silent majority do this consistently. We do it within our parties, genders, races, etc... I think in part the vast majority want to truly live and let live...

We should point out the idiots, no question. We should call their ignorance out and humiliate them. But again, that is not what String did. He used the idiots comments and projected them on to an entire group. Which I am sure we can agree was wrong.

The right wing is about obedience to authority often stemming from tradition or established power.

It's great to see you and sf coming to the aid of the long persecuted Christians. What would the world come to if they were insulted. But don't ignore the fight against the pc culture who criticize Phil Robertson or the racially motivated use of the word thug. /sarcasm

We all have different things we are passionate or care more about. Religion is clearly one for you. While I am a Christian religion is not a big issue to me. I don't pay much attention to it nor is it something I talk about much so you'll have to excuse me for not getting involved in your threads (bashing) talking about Christianity or religion.

the fringe element is a surprising number here in Ohio. What interests me is the demographic split in religion. Inside our (I-270) outer belt, most of the larger churches are more mainline, established protestant that are tolerant of homosexuality, liberal on social issues, et al. Or they are churches attended by African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans et al son they are socially liberal.

In the suburbs this flips. In Grove City, near where I live there is a huge Nazarene Mega church.....which is batshit conservative. They sell Glenn Becks books in their Christian book store.

The split in American Christianity is interesting from a sociological viewpoint if nothing else.

I don't give a fuck about Christians. I am against the idiotic notions about obedience and the rejection of science, which is a key tenet for most of them. You want to change the subject and try to make it about me rather than let their backwards and destructive ideas be challenged.

The notions of obedience are idiotic. We used to home school our children, and were part of a home schooling group. I remember hearing about a teenage girl in another home school group that actually pulled a knife on her mother because her mother refused to teach her science, saying it would keep her from being a home maker and turn her toward using birth control when she got married.

Girl emancipated herself, put herself through college, and IIRC became a doctor. The attitudes of the right can be mind numbing in so many ways.
