Well they are not the Himalayas but there are nearly 300 over 3000 ft.

Those mountains are MUCH taller than 3000 ft.

The tree covered "bump" to the left in the mid-ground shot is probably 3000 ft.

It was a National Geographic 2013 finalist. It was taken on the Snake River in Wyoming. The mountains behind are probably the Tetons.

I see herds of elk regularly here. Ate some moose this past fall, didn't care for the texture. Elk, now that's some fine eating.
