George Will leaving Republican Party

Racism played a minor role in Trump's ascendency. Maybe putting a moratorium on Muslim entry is racist. If it is, it coincidentally also makes for common sense. And if it is racist, it's not the racism that had blacks riding the back of the bus fifty years ago.

But the media pushes that perception just like they push the perception that the GOP has become a white party under Trump. Trump is often cast as a demagogue but much of the media is little more than a demagoguery factory as far as I'm concerned.

Don't minorities care about jobs and secure borders? If they don't care about that, what DO they care about? Don't they work blue collar jobs along side whites? Intuitively, there's no reason why minorities wouldn't care about the same issues as whites.

Trump needs to articulate that message.

The gop has failed miserably thus far trying to.... Simply put, they are not trusted, & you think trump is going to trusted after all he has said & done??

IMHO he either does not care about those votes, or like Mitt he has written them off as unattainable..

Man, you are in denial big time, but racists usually deny racism.

Hard to say at this point. I can't imagine the strategy sense in writing them off.

There are millions of conservative evangelicals voters in this country and Jarod thinks Republicans should drop them? Would be curious where he thinks they will pick up the new voters from to replace them.

Yep... Certainly trump won't be able to make up a gap like that & he knows it..

I'm talking about more than just Trump. Evangelicals make up a good size portion of the Republican base. It would be like saying Democrats should drop minority voters.

Perhaps, but mitt did it?? Other than that photo OP in the laundry room & the staged grocery store grocery cart pushing, I dunno what he did after that video clip blunder..

it was his message as a whole. He had nothing to offer non millionaires.

Historically, part of the problem with conservatives and minorities is conservatives are put in the position of having to out-pander liberals in order to get the minority vote.

And how do you do that without going back on your principles? The end result is liberals have conservative candidates boxed-in on it.

Trump is best when he keeps his message on the positive---tell minorities that everyone will benefit from more jobs and a stronger country.

LOL.. Well he did give out good advice: "just borrow a million or so from your parents & start your own company", or something to that affect...

I think getting the working class votes is critical to the gop. if they dont do it they will never win another election.

they get a good portion of the white working class already. That's not why they are losing

So the liberals are just to smart??

IMHO "the liberals" haven't boxed anyone in, they have boxed themselves in..

I could say a lot about that, but I think this quote attributed to MLK (& others) summoned it up quite well:
“We all too often have socialism for the rich and rugged free market capitalism for the poor.”

― Martin Luther King Jr.

Something like this here: Corporate welfare
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Corporate welfare is a term that analogizes corporate subsidies to welfare payments for the poor.[1] The term is often used to describe a government's bestowal of money grants, tax breaks, or other special favorable treatment on corporations or selected corporations, and implies that corporations are much less needy of such treatment than the poor.[1] The term is used interchangeably with crony capitalism; to the extent that there is a difference, the corporate welfare might be restricted only to direct government subsidies of major corporations, excluding tax loopholes and all manner of regulatory and trade decisions, which in practice could be much larger than any direct subsidies. The term, "corporate welfare", was reportedly invented in 1956 by Ralph Nader;[2] conservatives like Grover Norquist prefer "Crony capitalism".
