Afghanistan itself had no role, and as to the Saudi's, we are now supporting them in their attack on Yemen, and the starvation of children. I would also point out that the West had no power in the 1500's.

In 2000 -2001 the Saudis moved all Arab villages back from the Yemen border by 20 kilometers and build a security fence.. In the previous 40 years they built colleges, hospitals, clinics, grew employment opportunities with factories.. They have provided, food, medicine and gasoline.

Sadly, Yemen has been flooded with AQ from Afghanistan and other jihadi groups like al Shabaab, al Shaabaz, Boko Haram and assorted Somali pirates.. and there are still factions of Communists and Monarchists.

The Saudis have shown a lot of restraint.. The situation is dire in Yemen.. Within the past 6 years their oil sector has been shut down by sabotage and 500 factories have closed.

Now Iran funds the al Houthis..

Saudi Arabia has also taken iin a million Yemeni refugees.

I was in Asir on the Saudi -Yemen border in 2000 and I have been following Yemen since the early 1960s.

If you can stop the suicide bombers from getting into Saudi Arabia, you will be a real hero.

westeros didnt expect the nights watch to do stuff for free either. They sent them resources from time to time. Every empire has border armies that need to get resources to do their jobs.
