What I want to know this morning is why in hell is it a punishable crime to lie to the FBI? The FBI can lie to us without punishment. They do it all the time to set up and entrap suspected criminals. Politicians lie to we the people every minute of every day and get rewarded with reelection. I want to know who the hell made the stupid law making it a crime to lie to the FBI so I can put that idiot or idiots on my “never vote for asshole” list.

So you should be able to lie to the FBI without fear of punishment? I don't think that would achieve much in investigations, would it? the law is not stupid.

the law is absolute tyranny, given that it lets the government lie to you. next thing we'll hear is that if you have nothing to hide, you should have nothing to fear.

I actually think this is a question worth considering.

I don't believe refusing to talk to them at all is a punishable crime, however.

but FBI lying to people in order to coerce confessions has been a problem when it turns out that the 'suspect' never actually committed a crime, but hey better to imprison a possible criminal than to let any terrorist get away........wait. thats not what the founders said.......whatever.

No FBI existed during the founders. In America, the police, including the FBI have too much power. FBI founded in 1908 and made Hoover a king.

No, refusing to talk to them is not a punishable crime. But it sure pisses them off enough to conjure up lies and bullshit, then take them to a grand jury and indict you. One of my high school classmates can confirm that.

We have both a state and local law which makes it a crime to lie to law enforcement. You don't have to speak with them, but if you do, you can't fib. The reason is because if they go and arrest somebody else falsely based on your word, you should be punished.

That's it? No favorable argument for the "FORCE" of government and the control of the "simpleminded?" If the OP "confuses" you, try thinking awhile and see if that helps. Maybe then you'll make a rational argument and explain the fairness and balance in the act.
