Crowds flock to reopened Jacksonville beaches as Florida hits record coronavirus case

Projecting emotion into others is emblematic of being emotional.
No anger, this isn't personal to me.
Haven't got there yet when they start oppressing people I have no choice. If you stand by and allow it you are culpable in it. Nether, we simply aren't there yet, not to merit violence.
Sorry I guess I just support a more pragmatic approach.
I noticed it right off.
Anger and being personal are not dependent upon each other.
You declared it a dictatorship. Sounds oppressive to me. Why are you standing by? Are you admitting it's not a dictatorship? Please clarify.
Sooo it's not a dictatorship like you said?

I noticed it right off.
Anger and being personal are not dependent upon each other.
You projected it right off. They are dependant on each other. A person wouldn't get angry if they were not taking it personally.

I digress. If you want to project your emotions onto me be my guest. If I can't convince you that I'm not angry it's a waste of time to try.

Believe I'm angry, believe I'm a seven headed dragon if you want.
You declared it a dictatorship. Sounds oppressive to me. Why are you standing by?
Because I'm prudent.
Are you admitting it's not a dictatorship?
If you didn't see me admit it than you have your answer.
Please clarify.
Clarify what?
Sooo it's not a dictatorship like you said?
You can think whatever you wish.

Hello Bill,

That seems logical, I don't find ppl always acting in a logical manner..

Yes, during the hottest part of the day they are "suppose" to vacate...lol It will be slowly/gradually rolled back, police etc looking the other way...

Hopefully you're more correct than I.......

It's all academic for us.

Doesn't matter what we think.

What's done is done.

Time will tell the outcome.

I can't see arguing about it. These posters who take everything so seriously are a little too tightly wound if you ask me.

We'll find out soon enough how this works out in Jacksonville. All we have to do is be patient.

I wonder if they do have an increase in cases, but it's not a lot, will that be deemed acceptable?

Hello domer76,

Newcomers don’t possess any more favored status than anyone else. If they post the bullshit that our newbie just did, they are fair game. Just like any of the liars and bullshitters on this forum.

Any and all participation is welcome. There is no secret formula for welcome discourse. Just refrain from lies and BS and all is fine

Well of course all of that is true, no doubt. But just because there are no rules here doesn't mean people are under any mandate to act nasty to one another. People secretly yearn to see more intellect here. We could have more interesting conversations if we had more minds participating here. The rudeness and low level blurting runs off a lot of people or prevents them from wanting to take part. More tolerance = more participation = more widely varied comments.

It would be really cool if more people self-moderated.

That would raise the decorum of the forum.

Are you really that easily set off by BS, or is the snappy come-back just habit?

Habits can be changed; but it takes will power...

Why don't you focus more on making a good point instead of being crude?

Anybody can be crude. It takes a more measured mind to show more class than that.

I've seen you go either way.

We can't just stop living for this. People are going to die just like every other day of your life and nobody cares until now.

No, people die every day and people do care every day, before and now. Analyze each thing. We are analyzing covid19, a novel virus that appears more transmissible
and fatal than influenza for which there is no therapeutic and no vax. The only tools in the toolbox are social distancing, shelter in place to flatten the curve of cases and hygiene
as they work on a vax and learn more. If you'd care to discuss other deleterious things both natural and man caused, that can be done. Cars kill people, and we do care. We have café standards, we fix roads, we pass laws regulating traffic, we post signs, we have highway patrol. So that's an example of another thing that kills, and we do care and we do things. The environment, we can talk about that, and our
mismanagement of it causing death, and what we do about it. We could talk about power tools sold to the public and what we do about it to make people safe.
Pick a thing, cancer, and what we care about and all the tings we do about it. The risks of nuclear war and what we do about it.
The intersection of the economy and all other things that we could consider. We could talk about those things. But your hand waving dismissal under the heading "shit happens" ain't cutting it.

You apparently are part of Trump's army of angry dogs he dog whistles to that he riles up. He has you at the end of your chains to do something reckless
that will kill untold numbers. That is a reckless, self serving short sighted calculation HE has made to get HIMSELF reelected. It is just another reason of the millions
I have why Trmp is a shit leader and totally unfit for office, any office, much less Potus.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

Of course. I hope you understand the difference between looking for trouble and having trouble find you.

You are free to think so but this isn't dictatorship. If a sewage line broke heavily contaminating a section of beach, do you seriously think the Mayor shouldn't be held liable for saying "it's okay. It's safe"?

Yes. We all die, some sooner than later. I've died once and almost died a couple of times. While my heart would still pump wildly in overly-exciting situations, death is painless. It's a release. Nothing to fear. The only fear would be the transition. Lying in bed slowly strangling to death for two weeks isn't on my Top Ten list. Neither is terminal cancer. I'm not going to purposely expose myself to COVID19, despite a sliver lining**. Yes, I understand this will hit the elderly and those with other serious illnesses the hardest. Young people have died of this too, probably odd genetic quirks, but mostly the elderly. I'm 64, so I'm vulnerable.

**this disease is highly contagious and deadly. The main concern is to have so many cases that the hospitals can't take care of them and people start dying in droves for lack of treatment. Since that is likely to happen anyone if we "open the country", then would it be smarter to become infected and be the first in the hospital while there's plenty of resources?

What can they really do for you in the hospital?

They have no treatment. All they can do is stick a ventilator down your throat and extend the agony. Not a good way to go. Might be better to just let the thing take it's course at home. I'm sure a lot of people are already doing that (and not being counted.)

I think the sticking the vent down your throat can save a lot of lives. I'd encourage the sick to get to the hospital and see if that is needed.
By sedating you and assisting your breathing time can be bought for your immune defenses to beat the thing. I think the numbers bear that out.

Good post except I have not seen where the poster is a supporter of the prez.

Seems like another one of us just alarmed at what's going on, trying to make sense of it.

same old tired arguments what do we do with this becomes endemic throw away our economy every year?

OK but the stultifying apathy caused me to generalize in Trump's direction.

I agree it's both and at once medical and political/socio economic decisions we are discussing. That's why we are quarreling over it. Not cut and dried. But we are really only
a couple months in and those infections are still going up. To manage the ill through the healthcare system still requires several months more
extreme diligence from the general citizenry. It's April 21 2020 and thousands are dying every day, and Trump is tweeting free America from
the governors he abdicated his power to for decision making. Say what you may about the beginning being Chinese origin, but it is here now,
and everything he does now, and doesn't do now and going forward, he owns. That includes punting to the states. Not every state has the
wherewithal as California to end run this potus and requisition everything it needs.

I don't know. I've heard indicators that perhaps most of the people who go on ventilators never make it. Apparently it messes with your body and you sort of forget how to breathe on your own. Have heard that once it starts, very difficult to get off it.

We should have planned the shut down better instead of denials followed by 'This came out of nowhere!' (~rolling eyes~)

Europe saved the jobs, just had government begin doling out checks. They will be able to turn things back on far more easily.
