Worst presidents of all time

Well I think the only president to manage to divide the nation to the point of unprecedented civil war, costing hundreds of thousands of American lives, deserves a spot on the list.

Dixie.....where you do you get your "Sons of the Confederacy history lessons?"

Truman's easily the worst.

Never forget Hiroshima and Nagasaki

No, we don't. We think of the friends of our and their children and their children's children who are alive this day thanks to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We think of the countless numbers who did die there because of how their war leaders perverted bushido.

If you think about it, as horrible as Hiroshima and Nagasaki were, compared to the attrocities the Japanese committed in China and the loss of life there in the neighborhood of 10 million people, it's hard to be sympathetic with the Japanese. They got off light compared to their victims.

The problems with these list is that they give no criteria as to why a president should be considered one of the worst or one of the best. Many of the names I see on the list were not bad Presidents, they weren't great, but not bad and on the whole, most of our Presidents have been very good political leaders. Only a handfull have truely harmed this nation with poor leadership and policies or down right incompetence.

If the measure is incompetence, it's hard to argue with Harding and George W Bush.

If it's corruption, it's hard to argue with Harding and Grant.

If it's managing a national crisis it's hard to argue with Buchanon and Hoover.

If it's implementing catastropic policies, it's hard to argue with Cooledge and Pierce.

If it's personal short failings it's hard to argue with Nixon.

It's their lack of abilities as a war time leader, it's hard to argue with Johnson, Nixon or George W Bush.

why would you consider washington as one of the worst?

He meant lists of best and worst. No one has yet plugged him in as either.

Annie - Lincoln was not the first to push for expanded powers. Jackson enacted the Force Bill in response to the shitty state of SC's threat to secede.

Anyone else find something seriously fucked up about the libertarians racist and ignorant picks?

You're such a fucking idiot, and I've grown very tired of your naked stupidity.

Naming Lincoln as on the "worst Presidents" list doesn't make someone a racist, you dumbshit. Slavery is one the most vile crimes ever committed by human beings. However, opposing Lincoln's gross violations of the constitution and the massive killing done during the civil war has nothing to do with supporting slavery. There are many who believe slavery could have been ended in other ways.

Secondly, as I'd assume that you look fondly on the FDR administration, I'd like to remind you of the utterly racist and barbaric internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII.

Lastly, I'm assuming you're alluding to naming LBJ on the "worst" list is racist as well. Holy living fuck, how many innocent Vietnamese were murdered by his administration? I think that's enough to place him on the "worst" list.

Please learn a few things before calling people racist and ignorant.

Well I have been trying to tell you pinheads how profound I am! I'm a little miffed that I wasn't #1! WTF? For the record, Google is not the authority on who is the authority! I know that is hard for a pinhead like you to grasp, but there are actually sources outside of the Internet!

Check up on the Chiriqui Project, where in 1862, Lincoln ordered the purchase of land in Central America, for the express purpose of repatriation of slaves and other free blacks. This happened! It's not something I made up or dreamed up, there are public records, congressional records of votes, financial records of the purchase! Lincoln also had over 100 slaves shipped off to an island off the coast of Haiti, where there was no development whatsoever, and most of them died there!

When Lincoln was practicing law in Illinois, he represented slave owners and lobbied the court to send slaves who had escaped, back to their 'owners' and into slavery. In 1863, West Virginia, a slave state, was accepted into the Union! Before the war, Lincoln was working on a 'compromise' with southern states, which would have allowed slavery to continue unabated until 1911! We won't even get into the overtly racist statements he made during the Lincoln-Douglas debates, where he insisted he didn't believe blacks should ever hold public office, have a vote, or live among whites!
