The vast majority of Chinese people are killed by Chinese people because of proximity.

Most people are killed by people who they know, not some stranger who wants their wallet. This says more about who people hang with than it does the idea that people buying guns now equates to more White people dead. Even if your goal is to have more white people dead, just buying guns isn't the way to get it done. Especially when most of the people buying are those who already own some.

It is not true, Guns are used more than 800,000 times a year to defend against criminals. They are not always fired, but they are used. Even the old DOJ stats had that number at 80,000 to 100,000 times per year which is more than all murders and suicides combined.

Humans require laws and restrictions to overcome our basic human frailties.

There are many societies that live quite safely, safer than we do, without the necessity of guns.

Guns don't necessarily make society safer.

But I'm all for the right having them.

However they do not need to be controlling in every fashion. Laws should be created to protect you from invading my own rights, not to take rights away from everybody in order to make every action "safe".

In short, the government does not exist to take the risk out of life, or to protect me from myself.

There are all kinds of laws that protect you from yourself brother.

Keep in mind that I'm a socialist. I don't see things purely through the prism of what's best for me and I don't hold the individual above society.

Seriously I don't believe all guns should be taken either .. but there is obviously a problem with the proliferation of guns in this society.

I've never owned a gun, never needed it to feel safe .. and I live in Atlanta .. grew up in Detroit.

I rmemeber about 30 yaers ago there was a guy who lived next door to me who liked just like a black Burt Reynolds. He was the spitting image of Burt .. 'cept he was black. He was a police officer.

One Saturday morning I heard a loud gunshot coming from next door .. he had just accidentially killed his 5 year old daughter when his gun went off while cleaning it. He was devastated .. two days later he killed himself.

I had a cousin named Mickey, and the only reason Mickey is dead is because there was a gun in his house. His wife and he were arguing, she ran in the bedroom and got the gun .. Mickey is dead. No gun in the house and Mickey is still alive.

Marvin Gaye is dead only because there was a gun in the house. His father and he argued, his father got the gun .. Marvin is dead. No gun in the house and Marvin is still alive.

I could go on, but I'm sure you get why I have no affinity for guns.

A dog will keep you safer in your home than a gun will.
