Is anyone doing anything special next week? I'm going to Washington, but a big part of me is starting to wish I was staying home and watching it on tv with a bottle of champagne. It's going to be sooo cold there. I know a lot of people who are having parties. I wonder what conservatives are doing to mark the occassion? Hopefully it doesn't involve diapers or dog collars, and if it does, keep it to yourself!

ill do the same thing i have for the past 3, go to work.

I have never paid much attention to any inaugurations in the past, the fact that the idiots in DC waste so much money on them tends to piss me off. This time will be no different.

I've ignored the last 10 or 12 so I should have no trouble ignoring this one.....

For those that need to made the trip...have a few before you start and drive fast...
 
I will not even watch the inaguration. Wish they would just take him in the senate or something and swear him in, end of ceremony.
A frugal inaguration would be a good sign of the country heading in the right direction.
 
i agree with us... why make these things a big party.... they need to get to work... but then again, i guess i wouldnt mind em putting off their work for a lil bit... i like to spend my own money, i dont need them thinking of ways to waste it for me.

I am staying home and having a party! I can hardly wait.
 
Last night I went to a showing of an independent Afro-Peruvian film by a local organization that promotes the coming-together of "black and brown" people as they put it. Just like the story I told the other day of some black guy driving up next to me flashing me a peace sign and shouting "Obama!" on New Year's, the lady hosting this event said something to the effect of "my new year starts on the 20th." There's a huge amount of anticipation from the African American community and they'll certainly be watching (with the exception of BAC who likes to be different).

I feel the same, but I am being a hypocrite this year and enjoying the festivities.

It is well earned!

Have a great time! Be safe. I want a full report! The atmosphere is going to be so charged! I am a bit envious, but the champagne was a great idea!
