My advice to the young man........Don't expect to live like you've graduated from college while you are going to college. I am for this guy getting a tax break. I am for this guy getting some kind of health care. I am for making it easier on him to stay in school.
But people simply can't expect to start living like they have completed college and gotten that good job before they do. And I see it every day. Kids in school that have to get a new vehicle.......rent the best apartments....have all the video game equipment that they can't afford. They want it now and not later and a lot of them don't want to know what it is to work and sacrifice to achieve. This kid doesn't sound like he is like that but what I have described is what I see so much in counseling with kids trying to go to college.

This kid is not the average 19 year old.
When I first saw him I thought he was on speed.
I dont think he is after seeing him further. He is very into God and Jesus and is very naive.
My son isnt much older than this kid and acts and sounds nothing like him.
My sons friends are nothing like this kid. They have jobs and live 4 to an appartment. One did get sent to college but did not like it because his parents were trying to run his life. The other guys have various types of families who never even talked to their kids about college. They dont think this country is going to give them anything. They just want a decent job they dont hate and a decent place to live while they party and play music.
Most of the young people in this country are more like them than the kids you see.

It seemed to me the kid might have a mental disability of some sort.
The days of getting a "decent" job without a college degree of some kind are nearly gone. A person isn't going to get "decent" pay or many benefits working at McDonalds or Home Depot. If they are willing to settle for that life then so be it. I know several who have.......but they continue to live within their means. Around here people get better paying jobs than I have if they are willing to spend the time and the physical effort to work at such jobs (chicken plants, truck drivers, oil rig workers, gas well workers, welders, etc.) but most of these jobs, though they pay well, come with very few to no benefits.
In my experience, many 18 - 25 year olds want to live just like their parents are as soon as they graduate high school. That isn't reality. They have failed to consider how hard and long their parents have worked to reach the point they are at at the time.
I agree with desh on this part. I just think the kid was excited and he either had some physical malady or some of his limbs had gone to sleep.
